Hi

I know that it's very similar to the X3ce install and that I have probably made everything in the correct way and probably just missed a solder somewhere. But it's very anoying not having an install guide that exactly matches what you are trying to do.

Also the Motherboard on the pictures does not match the motherboard look that I have on mine. But my guess is that this is ok. But it would

Question:

I have modded an xbox 1.6b (checked the memory)

Bank one seems to have flash bios 3.01. The second bank I can't get to start on my 1.6 box (not 1.6b). Is this a sign of that that there really is 3.03 on bank 2? I flashed bank1 with 50.35 xecuter 2 bios. Used the 1.6plus of course.

If everything is soldered correct this one should boot without problems? Now it frags in the 1.6b box and works fine in the 1.6.

The install is EXACTLY the same. The only difference is that you don't get the Power/Eject PCB with the 2.6, so you skip that step.

Flashbios 3.01 works on the 1.6 and 3.03 works on a 1.6b. All 2.6 chips come with 3.01 on bank 1, and 3.03 on bank 2.

This sounds like a problem with the install in the 1.6b. I would make sure you actually have a 1.6b. It is possible that you have an older revision of the board even though the box may be new.

Well it's exactly the same except for this and that. Also the 1.6b MB looks sligthly different.

I have modded 4 different boxes now. So I am just skipping steps and making the right assumptions. But for someone not at all used to doing these kind of modifications I would want a guide that says 2.6CE install and pictures exactly looking like my MB. Otherwise I would be relucatant to go at it with a soldering iron. If there are so small differences it would probably not require more than 15 minutes work for the team to get a perfect guide up and if helps a few people that is time well spent.

Btw: I got mine working after re checking and redoing all soldering. But that little uncertainty when the pictures and guide do not exactly match can have you chasing ghosts.

The 1.6b looks no different, the only difference is the type of memory. The LPC rebuild PCB goes on the exact same way, and works fine.

The installs are the exact same for an X3 and 2.6 so that once someone has a 2.6 installed, they can upgrade to an X3 without having to do any more soldering. All that needs to be done is plug in the Power/Eject PCB.

I'm with exal here, does the small board (what seems to be the equivalent of the external part) go on the outside.....
...and seriously. What's that flimsy bit of thing PCB looking thing with your logo on it for.

It'd be so much less of a torture if there could just be a more precise tutorial. Please?

(I agree the majority of it is the same.....but I don't wanna charge head long into something if there's gonna be ambiguities later on. Not everyone is very comfortable taking apart their Xbox).

Are you kidding? Show me where these "ambiguities" are. The install is exactly the same. If you are not comfortable taking your Xbox apart, have someone else install the chip, don't blame that on the install tutorial.

Ambiguities include the random bit of PCB, and what corresponds to what. The little bit that goes outside the box looks like the power light thingemy-bob which goes on the inside.

It's all done now anyway....so thank you!
