I just install x3 on my 1.0 xbox last night.

when I turn on the xbox, It direct boot to FlashBIOS 3.0.1 screen without FRAG situation.
Next thing I do is testing out the disable mode and backup mode.
However, It does not seem to work.
My external banks /flash protected switches are all set to off
and internal Flash protection is set to off.
Is this normal situation??

Another issue, I have download two BIOS:
X3 1959 - 1024k
FlashBIOS v3.0.3 - 256k

My first attemp of flash BIOS, I try to use ftp method by loging x3/x3,and access denied.
Did I grab correct information for FTP.??

Secondary, I used Http method and it show up on IE browser.
I selected "FlashBIOS v3.0.3 - 256k" to do updated,
however the bank/flash protected swithes are still set to off.
when I look at the xbox, it already shut down. I thought its sigh of update successful.
After I turn on the xbox, It still boot to FlashBIOS 3.0.1.
I try to set bank switches to "on on off off off", and I still get ths same result.

what is different between "X3 1959 - 1024k" and FlashBIOS v3.0.3 - 256k

8955 Kernel, It's a question of time

Hello everyone,

MS has released the last update to stop Jtag and other utulity, there's no vuln known for the 8955 Kernel for this time, all people who have updated their console can't do a Jtag and for people who lost their dvdkey can't recover it either.

But it's just a question of time, as you know we can't move back to a previous version because of the efuse but modders did make a modified kernel 8955 that let's you use Jtag.

Ok, now if we wait for MS to release a new update for exemple : "9xxx"
So modders can modiffy this version of update to let the Jtag compatible, then we can update our console to the new modified Kernel "9xxx modified"

This is an idea, if i'm true and this can works, so there's one thing to do, is to found a simple vuln in this kernel 8955 "not for jtag- anything" and report it in all forum so MS can found this and release another update quickly, if not it will take a lot of time for MS to release a new one since 8955 fixed everything.

What do you think about this.
Can you discuss or just close this window?

Best Regards;

Re: 8955 Kernel, It's a question of time

This is just yet another "when will 8xxx dashboard be exploitable" thread. Basically, when MS decides to release a new series that doesn't mean that they patched a jtag hole. That just simply means they added new code, nothing more nothing less.

To be honest, the whole JTAG exploit took years to develop. At first all it was is a King Kong exploit where you could modify the shaders, yet then over years it evolved. This wasn't a simple process. The whole exploit was the only one ever found in the xbox 360 kernel. Basically, right now I doubt that many people if not none are actually looking for more new exploits in the 8xxx kernels since they are all still busy coding and learning about what they can do with their newly-acquired freedom using the JTAG exploit.

Basically, the matter stands on the fact, that a new exploit might never show up and if you wanna play homebrew then you gotta get a 7371 or lower console.
