Anyways, Thanks for reading!
Ok, I've look for all the forums and can't find the answer for my question.. So here it goes:

I'm about to buy a Xbox 360 on a store from Puerto Rico (it's the same of buying on a USA store), what kind of firmware do you think I'll get ? The DVD drivers unflashables?
If you have bought a Xbox on this month, please tell what kind of DVD driver you own.

Thank you.

Is it random? If I get a BenQ I would throw my Xbox on water!
I can't handle to pay around 60$ for each game...

Also, do you know someone that has bought a Xbox on august?
Peoples say that they are receing BenQ's nowdays...

It's pretty much pot luck, but you might be able to tell by the manufacture date on the console which is visible without opening the box I think next to the serial number.

There is a little tab on the box that you can lift to see. Go for one manufactured around the end of 2006 (say Aug - Dec) and you'll quite likely get a Samsung MS25 or MS28, failing that a Hitachi.

This is based on my experience in the UK, not sure about over there, so don't hold me to it!

What's the best DVD Drive ? I mean, about quality and about flashing...
I've read lot of peoples saying that the Samsung drivers are bad, the betters are Hitachi.
and the BenQ is good at quality, but for flashing.. it's impossible atm.

any drive is fine. NOT the hitv79 or the benq.the v79 will be hardest to flash you have to solder in a chip and it is very new right now.the benq is not flashable at this time as far as i know.
i like the sam drives v25 or v28.the new firmware seems to get out faster for them.

Any? As far as I know BenQ isn't able to play backup games atm... Also, the v79 is the one I wouldn't want, cos I'm not so good on soldering.
Do you mean they can be modded like PS2 are modded?
I've one modded with a matrix infinity v1.88.
Ps: Matrix Infinity is a modchip.

Ps2: Thank you for the answers.

In short, just forget about the Benq & Hitachi v79 drives.

The Samsung MS25 and MS28 drives seem to be better drives and much quieter than the Hitachis, plus the FW development seems to be quicker for these drives.

Thank you very much for the answers and help!

Ok, thank you, I'll try to get a Samsung MS25 or MS28... I'm going to buy a Premium Edition, sadly I won't get the HDMI cos they comes with BenQ's drives.

What's the best Firmware to flash this drives (MS 25-28), I've heard of the Xtreme, but I don't know what version should I use on them... Since I've heard theres more than 1 version.
