Plugged in power to X360 DVD Drive backwards, chip burned up, now broken

I was trying to flash one of my Xbox 360's and accidentaly plugged in the power cable for the drive upside down, then i saw one of the circular metal parts which i understand is probably a resistor (sorry, noob) burn up and start smoking. That particualar part of the chip is obviously fried now. This is what i've noticed after putting everything back together and trying out the 360. At first, it seems like there was either no fan or motor (power?) control anymore, i would turn on the 360 and the motor would just keep running faster and faster to the point where the 360 RROD'ed. I decided to leave it be for a couple months and came back and now it seems to be working fine, no RROD's, and that thing with the fan or motor didn't happen anymore. The 360 for the most part works fine, but the drive won't eject, i press the eject button and it just doesn't open, seems like the power is dead for the drive.

In short, what im asking is, is there any way i can fix my drive? I saw a similar thread where this happened to someone else and they were able to somewhat fix it by soldering the broken chip area or something of that sort, im not an expert. Any help would be appreciated!

Heres the link to the other thread - http://team-xecuter.com/forums/show...ower-cable-on-backwards-and-blown-it-Now-what

That's a good link, nice job finding that.
1. Can you test to see if the motherboard is supplying power to the drive? If not, you might need to be looking in the ad section of the forum and figure out who is close to you that can possibly repair the board components.
2. Does the drive make noise with the USB Pro (Im assuming youre using this or something similar from TX because you are on Team Xecuters support forum)
3. Can you get your DVD key?

if your drives a liteon, you most likley just fuxed up the r207 resistor, check for damage or burn marks around that componant, its 0ohm so you can actually bridge the 2 pads without a resistor.

Some more information, my drive is a Lite-ON DG-16D2S, the xbox 360 is a Xenon no HDMI.

I think it is infact the R207 resistor, since that resistor is fried it seems. Here are some pictures.

The R207 resistor and the area around it is fried and damaged as far as i can see. Is there anyway i can fix this? nofeloniesyet said something about bridging the 2 gaps can you give me a guide or a quick explanation on how to do this.

Thank you!

bridge the 2 pads the resistor sat on.

im sorry but i have no idea what that means, do i have to buy some new material, or solder something? Where are the 2 pads, how would i bridge them?

Im sorry i have no experience with this at all. Tell me like i am a 5 year old.

all componants sit on solder pads.the solder pads are where the resistor connects to,one on each side of it.you would need to heat the resistor with solder on iron and float it off, then bridge the 2 pads together withmore solder.your just connecting the 2 pads together with a solder bridge, instead of another resistor,as it was 0ohm res anyway.so a solder bridge will suffice.warning though,if you ever do this again with it only bridged,it will def blow the mt chip cause theres no resistor there to pop and keep the voltage from going to it.hope this makes sense

Ok, i think i understand for the most part now. So i use a solder to heat the bottom of the resistor to remove it from the board, then there will be 2 pads underneath, and i just melt the with the solder to create a bridge? Or would i have to buy or find some sort of material to create the bridge with?

connect both R207 pads to R66, if you're lucky, it'll be possible to get dvdkey.
but I'm almost sure motor driver, or laser are burned, too.
