plzzzzzzzzzzzz help!! not reading discs!!

my 360 wont read discs at all!! the only thing i can think of is i ahve recently unplugged it overnight and when i come to play it bam! dont work!!! i have a hitachi v59 drive and its flashed with the latest firmware!

when i put discs in the drive sort of makes a strange noise when you open it then i put game in and it makes the noise again and the bar at the bottom on dashboard just says open tray!! its not even attempting to read the discs! pllzzzzzz help thanks!

btw wont even play originals either! and has been workin fine before i unplugged it!

could be the tray has slipped a tooth on the cog that opens and closes it. try openng the tray manually (theres a tutorial on this on xbox.com i think) that might reset your tray and it might open and close as normal.

it souns like the laser making the noise not the tray opening dodgily!

did you make sure to disconnect main power supply before you went tinkering? might be a bad laser also.

cant see how the laser is making the noise as it only moves up and down while it reads the disc, unless you mean while its moving from the centre to the outer edge of the disc that could another cog problem aswell, try dismantling the dvd drive and look inside.

Something wrong with your driver, could be dust on your lens, could be dust on the track the lens is running on, open it up, clean it, clean the track make sure its clean. Like the guy above said, try manually open/close it, if that doesn't work, search for lens for sale online, they got some pretty cheap.

thanks for the replies guys but iv sussed the problem and it was utterly ridiculous!!

you know when you buy dvds and they come with like a foam disc that sits on the top! well it must have stuck to the disc when i put it into my 360! so when i took the dvd drive apart there it was sat onto the cd gripper!! i gess it must have been holding the disc too far away from the laser so it couldnt read it!! what a dope!! anyways thanks for the replies guys!
