wd are better had a few bad experences with maxtor.
would recomend them any day

I dunno, I like my Maxtor (sound like the bad guy from Masters of the Universe!). I haven't tried out any other brands, but it seems quiet to me.
I think that Hitachi, Seagate, Western Digital, and Maxtor have all proven themselves to be worthy brands. They are all high quality, finely machined items. There may be a few lemons thrown in on each brand, but this is inevitable. When a company throws out a few million of them a year, not every single one is going to be perfect.
In conclusion: find the cheapest one out of the above brands, and just use it. It should be okay.

Maxtor in Xbox, but has WD in other machines. Haven't noticed any probs with any of them (except the IBM Deathstar drives that kept burning up - lost one, had it replaced by a WD).
I said Maxtor, and someone dropped my rep for it - they are not THAT badVyrus said:
