Thank you for the amazing info! This helped solve the freezing problem that was bothering me for weeks.

I just registered to confirm it works and to post my findings:

Falcon v3.0
CB 5772
Power Mode 8280
Power VCS Control 8565
Both ANA Fuse Value 03

Before the Falcon was freezing randomly from 15 - 45 minutes. Now the freezing are gone.

I made a clean tutorial of how to make the changes: http://falconfreeze.weebly.com/

Maybe it will help somebody.

Just a little something for all of you to look for. I had now quite a few falcon RGH2 machines (this probably applies to R-JTAG as well). I've noticed that if you have the power mode at 8280 (power vcs does not matter at all you do not need to touch it) then the machine will likely freeze at boot (glitching stops but no display out) or freeze in mid game after a shorter time like 2-10 minutes. You should try to change it to 8080, 8480, 8180, 8080 (in this order) some of these will fix it.

Those boxes that have the power mode at 8080, 8180, 8380 or 8480 are likely have no problems whatsoever. This is not 100% of course but I had several rgh2 falcons now with 8280 power mode that needed tweaking.

This is a good find I had a 8280 failcun+ rgh2 put it to 8480 and it was still freezing in FSD when scanning games. 8080 fixed it nice to have someone with insight on this here :)

I have here a falcon v3 rgh2 cb 5773 that always freezes with every value combination (althought some last longer before freezing). It has 03;8280;8565 (ana;power;vcs) by default.
If anyone had some success stories with this board/config, please tell me.

Another fix confirmation :

Falcon RGH2 16203
CB 5772
Power Mode 8480
Power VCS Control 8565
ANA Fuse Value 03

Backup ANA Fuse Value 03

with the default values of
Power Mode 8280
Power VCS Control 8565
ANA Fuse Value 02
it froze during boot (glitcher stopped flashing, but no output on the monitor).

I also tried other values, such as 8080,8180 for power mode and 02 for ANA fuses and they froze during gameplay.

Thanks a lot for the various info in this thread!

Try reading this post by pengekcs, and doing what it says to in that post.

I thank you for the time you took to answer me about my problem, but it didn't work. I tryied them all via LPT SPI, without changing VCS or ANA, then went ahead and injected 5 different configuration files, still nothing stable.

Also Candlemass config (which started as same as mine, with different ANA Fuse Value) failed.
Not to mention the dozen other configs tried (also tried changing ana/vcs/power to slim values like 0000 to vcs)

The change is there, it doesn't freeze on logo like 8280, but still freezes in dash/game.

I have just returned it with stock, so this is solved: some falcon V3's just refuse to work.

What's your CPU_RST wiring placement?
Sometimes the freezing is caused by electrical interference, and fixed by changing wire position/length and the use of different combinations of resistors/capacitors.

For example, I used the standard long blue wire (56cm if I remember correctly), with a 50-ohm resistor (actually I used 2 x 100-ohm resistors in parallel = 50), wired on top of the white fan shroud and wrapped 2 times before ending in the motherboard.

It wasn't the wiring. I flashed back the stock nand with RawFlash without touching a wire, and it didn't freeze, with SPI still attached to the PC LPT port and CR3 set to prog.
It wasn't the CR3, because putting it to prog after the freeboot booted didn't prevent the freeze.
Surprisingly, using a newer Xell-Reloaded compiled from source worked. I played mupen64 for about an hour, and when i decided to boot the hacked dash, it froze on me like always. So i believe that something is indeed wrong with the freeboot (patchset / kernel / build process).

Anyway, i used the CPU_RST point underneath the board, and then i switched to the top one. Switched from normal cable, to shielded thhen normal again.

Ihave xbox fat falcon R-JATG with the freezen problema, and i change the SMC volt to 8180 and now it works great :) no freezes anymore :)

Ok, so it was figured out that the Power Value can be changed to either 8080, 8180, 8280 and 8480. Also, the Power VCS Control can be changed to 8555, 8565, 8665 and 8235.

Does anybody know if these are the only values allowed, and if so, why? I stumbled across a thread (Russian or something) where the guy changed the VCS to 0000 and he eliminated all freezing..

Anyways, what does these values indicate?

Everywhere
Had 3 Falcons with 8280, all of them were freezing, just finished the last one, changed power mode to 8080 --> problem solved.

Hi guys.

I have a weird problem with my Falcon CB5772. I have already tested all possibles SMC Configuration and still my xbox freezes, but it is not normal freeez i guess.
I have RGH2 and on Xbox HDD drive i have two games Guitar hero III and GTA V. I can play hours without freezing in Guitar Hero III but i cant play GTA V, Xbox freezes during boot animation (there are these stars in right upper corner just after the fifth star shows up my xbox freezes).
Maybe one of you know what can causes this problem.

If it only does that with one game, then i would make sure the files from disc 1 were not corrupted when copying. I would manually copy them as the game would keep going thru pictures for hours and not go any where until i did. then all you need is disc 2 copied to your system. It is also not recomended to copy disc 2 to the console, as it will glitch more, and load slower. I havent really noticed this much, but have read about it.

It is not only one game. I am guessing the problem occures with new games, i have also tested an NFS: Rivals and after load the game ask me if i want to copy HD content to HDD after chosing yes the xbox freezes. I have tried starting games from pendrive and no difference. The DVD games works perfect.
BTW. How can i burn NFS or GTA V on disc, because ImgBrn says that my DVD+R DL VERBATIM has not enough space.

Thank you all for the topic. I tried changing the smc_config, but it worked. I tried some values and had this result:

Original (freeze with rgh2):
Falcon, CB5774.
ANA Fuse: 03
Power Mode: 8280
Power VCS Control: 8565

modified (work with rgh2)
Ana Fuse: 03
Power Mode: 8080
Power VCS Control: 8565

just thought id put this up,as its first time ive really encountered it.did an rgh2 falcon not long go,couple weeks ago, customer calls me back few hours after receiving, says its freezing.i have seen this thread a buncha times, and jumped right to it.

the falcon was stock with:
8380 power mode
ana fuse 2
and power vcs was 8555

now,i tried EVERYTHING I did by ONLY changing the power mode.
tried 8080 console wouldnt boot and did funky rol sh*t
8480 same as 8080

then tried changing to 8280 as suggested by martin c,and shes ran fine for over an hour now. :)
glad this thread was here :)

EDIT: few months later now and no call from customer,so id say that def did the trick.
