Just thought i would share my results. I have a falcon rgh 2 cb 5774 and non of the smc-config files donated here worked to fix my problem. I actually couldnt even get 2 of them to boot. Not sure if thats because i have a 5774 cb or if its something with the 16202 dash but they wouldnt boot. Martin C config.bin did help extend the amount of time it took to freeze but still not good. I give up on rgh 2 because of the sounds of the team is close to releasing a new and more stable hack.
Sounds like more to do with your inability to follow the J-Runner manual than anything else, especially reading your previous post. You got mine to work because it only needed writing to your NAND as is.

I just saw this thread today after previously abandoning a falcon due to freezeing issues using RGH2.0 last year . I had literally tried everything with it such as using alternative wiring techniques, using cap/resitor on CPU_Reset and different lenghts of wire but nothing worked. The console always glitched fine however it froze when starting a game (both from harddrive and disk). Once flashed back to retail it worked perfectly. I decided to break open the falcon again today to see if using a donor config file would work . I created a glitched Nand using J-Runner and flashed this to the Nand and as expected it froze when starting a game as it normally did. I then injected the config file provied by Martin C using nandpro to the glitched J-Runner image and reflashed the nand and to my surprise it worked. No more freezing. So thanks a million for this fix.

I haven't had success with nay of the configs in this thread so far.

MartinC's config made my cpu run exactly 10 degrees hotter, gpu and mem temps were unaffected. Thought this was noteworthy enouvh to share.

One of the other configs didn't load past the boot animation, although it hadn't exactly frozen, the splash screen was still animated. It wouldn't boot at all when no hdd was connected. Are those the symptoms of me doing something wrong or is that just something that can happen?

This definitley works, I come across a falcon that freezes every few months now. Up until this thread was posted nothing worked with wire routes/caps/resistors or reflows/reballs, so the console was restored to stock and sent back or sold on as stock. Now I just use my donor smc_config.bin (I posted on this thread post#63) when building a new nand image and it has worked every time so far. I also always modify the temps in the advanced xebuild option in jrunner too, so that also may help you.

What exactly have you tried? who's files have you used? and what methods are you using to inject them?

Thanks for your reply.

For the SMC configs that have been given in this thread, I extracted my own nandump.bin in Jrunner, put their SMC config in xebuild\data, then used the "create image without nandump.bin" option in J-runner. This is what I did for yours, I did it again just now with the same result. The console boots, splash creen comes up and then stays on Xbox 360 splash screen. Below is a screenshot of the SMC config editor window when loading up a nand that contains your SMC config, does this look similar to yours?

One question that has just popped to mind for the "create image without nandump.bin" method, when it asks for LDV value, where do you get this from as there are 3 LDV values in the NAND info tab?

As far as lowering the temps go, I'm not sure what affect this will have on this unit as my temps are pretty low as it is (see screenshot below) as I've got a 12v fan directly above the heat sinks and the DVD drive removed. Although as previously mentioned, add 10 degress for the CPU temp on MartinC's config which I implemented by writing to my updflash.bin via nandpro

What values would you recommend I set the temps to in the config?

Well your method of building the image is ok.

So with what you have said so far above, I'd guess it to be a system or wiring issue?

With all the extra mods you've added I'd guess the xbox has had issues in the past with over heating or RROD?

I'd say its best to open up your own thread and post all the relevant info.

All I've really done is remove the DVD drive and add a 12v fan and reapply the thermal paste (and put x-clamps back in place) so hopefully it's nothing related to that, no history of RROD.

I do still need to check the wire running underneath the board, would like to quickly check it and get it out of the way but I don't have access to a T8 bit at the moment!

So now all that's left for me to check is that I'm 100% doing your config right. To make sure I'm using the correct LDV value when prompted by J-runner? I'd been selecting 14 because it was the only LDV value that showed up in AutoGG

I guess I'll try with 0 or 13 next?

The LDV is the highest value on the bottom row, so 14, but LDV value matter in freeboot images as its patched.

Take a look at your wiring and CR type and config. I swear by cr3 lites on rgh2 falcons.

as promised i just wanted to report back:

tried the smc "Martin C" advised.
(also updating from 16202 to 16203 nand)

- did this cmd: "nandpro updflash.bin: -w16 config.bin 3DE 2"

flashed and

result: freeze

so i tried again the smc_config.bin from d**ko316.

- copyed to jrunner\xebuild\data\
- build image, jrunner is asking if the found smc_config file should be deleted
- answer: no

flashed and

result: works! (for my falcon^^)

thats my report, thx

Thanks for replying, however as proven by this thread there's not a one-size-fits-all approach to this.

If you want to test it, try extracting the config.bin from your now working image (nandpro usb: -r16 config.bin 3de 2), build an RGH image from your stock NAND (which you know freezes) and inject the config.bin YOU created :)

You can also upgrade to a cr3 litr if you havent already done so. I also found that using these chips with the right settings and good smc config, you will get a nixe reliable system again. I upgraded 2 of my customers for free to cr3's when they first came out and they were stoked as to how much better the boot time was and how much stable the console was. i think they get a bad post reading

I did the exact same thing as you and several other methods but my console
wont glitch with that smc_config.bin. The console i can hear it make the glitching noise but then nothing and the coolrunner stops attempting to glitch. Any ideas? All other images will boot and glitch time are good just cant figure out this freezing problem

First of all thanks for this thread, I had high hopes for a solution. I had a few freezing falcon rgh2 in the past, before I found this thread, that I have just put back to stock and given back to its owner. Now I had an other freezing bastard and I decided to try to fix it based on the knowledge amassed in this thread. To cut it short: none of the donor nand / smc_configs worked.

I have tried Martin's smc config too (written at 0x3de), d**ko's smc_config.bin, the 2 donor nands from this thread in the beginning, and then my past working 4 rgh2 falcon machines, then a further 7 falcon rgh1 machines that are known to work well that I made in the past. Nothing worked - the max I could come up is 1.5 minutes without freezing. Sometimes the box did not boot at all, sometimes it booted but got stuck on the xbox boot logo all the time, and most of the time everything worked fine (dash), but once a game started it froze in 5 - 90 seconds max. Nothing worked, and i don't feel like trying a further tens or even maybe hundreds of different smc_configs for this thing.

So in short: don't bet on that you'll find a good combo for your machine. However it's interesting to note that the cpu / gpu / edram gain / offset values seem to matter very much for these freezing suckers. I have no more time to waste on this.

I am just writing this so if someone comes around and none of the files work for him it's no accident.

Just curious...but has anyone posting in this thread tried the tin foil wire wrap method just in case it is signal interference as opposed to dodgy SMC config?

Thank you for the extra SMC configs to try, moco.

I wonder if this is a coincidence or if I'm doing something wrong, as this has happened with 3 smc_configs now. I try to build a nand in Jrunner by placing the smc_config.bin in xebuild\data and then creating or by placing the necessary files in xebuild\data and choosing to rebuild. I verify that the SMC config has changed by viewing it in the SMC Config editor, I flash the nand and then the console will no longer boot past the opening splash screen.

Is something wrong with my method or is this just a coincidence?

Edit: I have just discovered that the console does not boot at all on these SMC Configs if no HDD is connected, if that adds any extra information for someone to let me know if I need to change something.
