Hello,

I still have an old XBox360P lying around here with a broken DVD drive.. ( I don't have the key.. )
What's the best method to hack this box?

Am I forced to use JTAG / RGH in this case?

Read my RGH Roadmap for noobies and use the hack suited to your console type and dashboard version.

In short, once you have the CPU/DVD key you can make a new firmware for a replacement drive.

Wasn't the key stored in the drive itself on the 16D2S?

ps. do you know what errorcode 1033( slim ) is?

You have a phat, right? So ignore any 'slim' advice given.

I was under the impression you wanted to replace the DVD drive. If you have 1033 (E79) then you have other issues.

If u can't retrieve the DVD key with jungleflasher from the DVD pcb then u will need to RGH/jtag the console to get the key. Again, read Martin C roadmap for noobs for more info on RGH/jtag.
