Hi,

I have Falcon JTAG, but the drive was changed to Toshiba/Samsung (key flashed), as I didn't have Benq at the moment. Is it possible to ruin this JTAG if a noob accidentally applies official update from Microsoft ? Theoretically this update won't come through due to wrong DVD drive, but will it burn e-fuses ?

I know that right now I'm ok as it's on 15574 freeboot. Moreover dash launch doesn't allow you to apply regular $systemupdate without renaming it. But the question is more theoretical. However the guy who I presented this box is complete noob and I don't know what might happen in the future.

Hes asking if a customer buys it and updates it, will it ruin the console as a jtag. So removing a simple resistor will solve the problem permanantly. Updating the dash through xebuild will only leave it n00b proof til another dash comes out.

If you don't put the proper fix in place with R6T3 or the nearby bridge, you will leave the person getting the console the option of bricking it. You will quickly learn that some people are determined in forcing an update which is why you should not leave it down to chance.

Just update to new dash out takes 5 mins to do .
