Possible bad flash

Hi,

I hope you'll forgive me for asking what may well be the most nebie of newbie questions, I've done my background reading, but would like someone to confirm if what I'm thinking is correct before I do any more damage:eek:

I have a version 1.6 (NOT 1.6b) Xbox, into which I have today installed an Xecuter 3ce mod chip, using a Xapt3r 16 solderless adapter, this seems to have gone flawlessly, as I booted straight into the blue Flash Bios 3.0.3 screen. It was at this point that I took leave of my senses...

I, via HTTP, flashed the 1Mb bank 1234 (on, on, off, off) with X3 3294 BIOS - unfortunately the bios I used was not the v16plus version which I believe is what I should have used! Hence as you can imagine, I get a black screen on my tv when the xbox is turned on, and the box switches itself on and off a couple of times, before just sitting flashing its lights accusingly at me! If I boot into the second 1Mb bank (5678 off, on, off, off) however, it cheerfully greets me with the blue flash BIOS screen once more. Could someone please confrm for me, if I flash the 3294 v16 plus bios on to this bank, that should work shouldn't it?

Also I believe I read in a thread on this site, that if I boot into flash bios on bank 5678, and then with the screen still showing switch the dips to bank 1234, it should allow me to flash over my bad bios? Is that true?

I just don't want to make things worse and render my chip unusable, many thanks in advance if someone can clear this up for me!

Cheers,

Adam - pitiful modder!

P.S. just for reference, if I'm HTTP'ing my bios across, does it matter what the file name is, can I leave it on my pc and upload it to the xbox as 'X3 3294 v16plus', or do I need to (as some docs seem to indicate) rename it 'bios.bin' before I HTTP it across?

just flash over the 1234 bank mate, as for the filename if you doing http, call it what you like, wont matter. if it does go all wrong all is not lost cus that flashbios is always going to be on the backup rom,( power and eject at the same time).

Many thanks,

I've now bitten the bullet and done it. Worked first time (well... second if you count the first time I screwed up!) Many thanks for the reply, you've helped me out more than you know.

Cheers,

Adam - just needs to swap out the HDD and can start playing with software!
