I installed an X3 in a 1.6 xbox using pin header and the rebuild PCB. First bootup with chip disabled it boots to msdash normally. With chip enabled it power cycles twice then frags. Resoldered and double checked everything with same result. When I disconnected the wire connectors from the bank switch on the front everything worked great. I flashed it, ran the slayers setup disc and booted to evox dash. If I reconnect the switch it frags. Inspected the switch and the wires and cannot see anything wrong. I suspect the switch and just wanted to get some other opinions. I'm pretty sure I have seen others with problems like this also.

I just had the exact same problem only my system wouldn't boot at all with switch cable plugged in. I think i bent one of the pins on the chip, but your problem could be a crimped cable.

And i also had a 1.6 box

When u connect the switch panel do u get any lights on the switch panel to light up?

Have u tried connecting the switch panel and trying out different switch banks? ie. on on off off off

I get nothing, no power when switch is plugged in. I think the pins on the chip are bent, but there too damn small for me to see exactly.

Is the X3 chip installed correctly? Do you get both blue LEDs on the chip to light up?

Chip works perfectly when the switch isn't plugged in. If the chip wasn't installed correctly it wouldn't boot up. The pins are bent or the wire is crimped somewhere. It isn't a problem until i want to update the bios. It runs fine now.

I get lights on the switch bank. When I disconnect the larger of the 2 connectors (left looking at switch) everything runs fine. When it is connected it frags.

Flashing Inquiry

A little curious about flashing my console, however I can't afford a replacement. I don't want to brick this drive!
I provided all the data I could find once I opened my console case with my father.
I've taken the time to use www.google.com (no advertising intended!)
However many guides I've found I'm not confident in following them, due whatever reason I've chosen.
I'm requesting someone expierenced who could provide me with a EXACT list of everything I'd need to flash the following.

On a last side note
Do I need to provide some SATA information about my desktop PC? As my current CD-Rom and HDD are SATA connected

Re: Flashing Inquiry

1st off you cant brick a liteon drive but however you can remove the fw so it wont respond anymore but this is an easy fix.
2nd read the jungleflasher tut it will explain everything you need for the flashing process
