I'm considering trying out xbox-linux, and my question was if you can run linux and still keep the M$ dash and another one (Evox). The FAQ's on the xbox linux site don't fully explain this, so is there anyone who has run linux on their box here?
Re: Possible to run linux on xbox and still maintain M$ dash
bah get gentoox. Works fine and dont bother much with documentation on site. just read fully all the files that come with the os. xbox-linux site will give you mixed ideas about stuff because they dont support mod chips and all that . Just flash the 256k bios and upload the files to the root of e and you'll be ok. very easy and fun to use.

wel yea you wanna flash the x3 bios of course. But i think its a lot easier to boot gentoox using its bios. It comes along with the release. Just flash the 256k bios .bin file and then make sure the switches are correct. Then after you upload all the gentoox files to the root of e jsut boot to the bios and run the setup.

BTW, never shutoff your xbox by pushing the power button while in gentoox. It will fuk up the file system (rootfs file) and you will have to reinstall the whole damn thing (though you dont need to reflash.)
