flashed bios with 1959. after restart, it flashes amber for a second, then shuts down. I'm guessing it's a solder issue; but any idea which points to check specifically??

did you hook the fan back up?

did the flash of the 1959 bios finish and shutdown on it's own?

what version of xbox do you have?

please give more info if you expect us to help you.

Xbox 360 No Power :((

Hi all, I have a serious problem and it gets technical.
I have a 360 that doesnt power on, "at all" No lights, Power Unit stays orange etc, I have tried Everything basic. Nothing will get this to load any light. I have also replaced then Front power button Board.
So I did a test on Every capacitor inside the 360. All are good. I tested by self, then I did a scan of a working 360 capacitor and compaired. All are the same except 1. The working Xbox shows "0.02" using a 20k ohm meter.
The Non booting xbox shows "0.17" ohm.. Is this a problem?
This is my last option. I have tested Absoluly everything to get this 360 load, Nothing is working. Thanks in advance

Re: Xbox 360 No Power :((

you can't test capacitors in circuit. using a standard ohm meter won't give you a true or definate good or bad unless your using whats called an ESR meter to measure low resistances. or use a lcr meter which tests leakage, but you have to pull caps off of the circuit board.

did you test your power supply on a different xbox to verify it?

look at your USB ports

i've had two boxes where the pins inside where broken and grounding out

i just used a needle-nose to straighten them and the xbox works again

those two USB ports were shot though

I have checked the USb ports, but what I can see they are all fine.. All the capacitors looks good to, I really dont understand..

Also I got told using a ohm meter would work?
I dont know.. What can I use thats cheap that will allow me to get good readings of capacitors without Removing them Off the board? i.e. turning board over and putting the meter on the 2 soildered ends..

ill go check the usb again and let you know..

I have another xbox 360 that really got some serious problems.. But ill open a new topic on that, so pls try and help me with that.. ill be eternally greatful.

After Having a look at the USB and other ports again, all are right, But 1.. Funny thing is is the one thats faulty is teh thing thats not working.. i.e. Xbox not powering, and its the Power Port thats looks broken..

look at these..

WORKING XBOX IMAGE of power port

THE PORT OF THE NONE BOOTING XBOX

Has I have marked in image, There is No plastic square aroung the top middle one, and No plastic Light at the Very Top. there is on the working on...

Like I said before.. the Board is new, I broken seal to open it. So I cannot see it being internal damage.. Think that its not working us of the power port and it is hard replace?

Re: Xbox 360 No Power :((

looks like someone ripped apart the back so that they could fit a power cord that isn't supposed to fit in the back of the xbox

that could have fried something on the motherboard

if you have a 203watt power supply (the one with the metal end) definately use that, it will work with all xboxes

Re: Xbox 360 No Power :((

I am using the Power supply with the Metal end, tried the plastic end one, it doesnt Fit, so maybe they tried, forced and broken afew plastic pieces off trying, but the Power unit with the plastic end still doesnt fit because the Middle seperater is still there stopping it, so doubt anythings blown because the the wrong power unit still wont fit..

And My power unit I am using "metal End" one isnt powering it on.. I know 100% that the unit works, But the orange light isnt moving at all.. Units orange with lead out, and orange when I plug it in and try turn it on. It doesnt even blink
