This mod saved me countless hours of flashing and reflashing my 360 with different firmware to get it to read games better and stop Unrecognized Disc Errors. What this mod does is allows you to manually increase or decrease the power going to your DVD-Rom Laser, The more power it gets the better it reads backups. Just make sure when you do this not to give it too much power because you will burn out your laser. All you need to do this mod is a Multimeter and a 2mm flathead screwdriver. Here is the link for the tutorial made by Moda from Xbox-Scene.com I must advise very strongly that even though this was a very easy mod for me took about 3 minutes that if your not up for taking apart your DVD drive then dont even bother this is a great mod but also known for many people as a last resort so they can play there games with no problems.
