This is my first modded Xbox, version 1.0....I've been running it successfully for 3-4 years now. The other night, my wife went to turn it on...and apparently hit it with a large bolt of static from her finger! Since then, it stays powered up unless you physically remove the power cord from the back side of the unit.
Ok, I took the unit apart and began some diagnostics. Tried a different power switch from another parts unit...didn't work. Long story short, it is the "reset/eject cable" connection from the chip itself to the "reset/eject adapter" that is causing the problem. As soon as I unplug that from the adapter, the power switch will turn the unit on and off.
I'm thinking that the chip is fried. I guess I'm looking for some confirmation here. Maybe someone else has run into this scenario?
Fortunately, I have two other xbox's as backup...so I'm up and running...but it's a shame to see this one go down!
Thanks for any responses!
