I have a xb360 slim power brick that goes red. I have a xbox 360e power brick thats working fine. Can I open up the xbox 360 slim power brick and desolder the power wire from that and put solder it onto the xbox360e power brick and use that in my slim?

afaik the newer e model slims run on less amps and all so the psu would really be underrated to run a reg s model slim, someone correct me if im wrong here.

That's correct. From the xbox website:

  • Xbox 360 E Console: The Xbox 360 E console uses a 120-watt PSU.
  • Xbox 360 S console: The Xbox 360 S console uses a 135-watt PSU.
  • Xbox 360 original console: There are several versions of the PSU for the original Xbox 360 console. Depending on the power requirements of the console, a 203-watt PSU, a 175-watt PSU, or a 150-watt PSU may have been included.

Don't forget that the slim powerbricks are made to drive kinnect also. if you use a E model power brick on a regular S and don't use your kinnect on it then it could work. Can't tell for sure though, can't remember what kinnect is rated.
