what i need it for is to determine what type of psu i have just been sold, i am told that it works fine on a 1.6 even advertises the fact on their web site but i'm not too sure, for one the bloody thing doesn't power up but i don't know if that is down to my mobo or the psu. I am told that if you connect the purple and the green wire on the connector the psu will power up but i don't know if that is the same on all PSU's.

Is there any way of testing the psu?

Is there anyway to get the Key off a LT 1.1?

It seems i've misplaced the OFW of my brother's v1 83850C drive and the keys that go with it. It has LT 1.1 on it right now, and need to recover them for the new LT+. Is there anyway to get the keys without the "MRA hack" that requires cutting and soldering? I'm not really good at it, and don't want to ruin his box.

::EDIT::
I changed the thread title and message body after learning my terms were wrong.

whats on the drive LT1.1 or ix 1.6?
If its ix 1.6 you can use dummy from ix function,
If its LT 1.1 then if you flashed the drive, connect the drive and use dummy from keydatabase,or maybe some jf logs for key,
failing that then mra,and make sure you save the dummy/ofw this time.

REALLY?! whats on the drive? The subject and the body of the message BOTH say 1.6.... I tried the dummy from IX and it said it needs the drive half open, which it is (ie; it can't read with 1.6). As for key from DB, my DB only has 1 other key and it doesn't match. The icon on the left that shows the info of the drive says the key is unverified. We don't have any of the logs either.

re:skinneyb -> is using the CK3 going to work with this drive? We didn't need to use it the first time.

Re: Is there anyway to get the Key off a LT1.6?

I'm in the same boat: I have a LiteON 83850C v1 with LT 1.0 on board... but no data from the previous flash.

Is there some way to upgrade from LT 1.0 to LT+ without using hardware?

Re: Is there anyway to get the Key off a LT1.6?

I have a probe and all that if I need to use it, but everything I've read says that using it on this specific drive could damage/destroy the probe and the drive. Plus, I've "NOT" read anything about it being a fullproof way of getting the key. The only garaunteed way I've see so far is to use the "MRA" hack which I don't feel comfortable doing. Would be nice if there was another way. What about using the barcodes? Any chances there?

Re: Is there anyway to get the Key off a LT1.6?

Okay.. I read through this thread and I'm actually not 100% sure what's going on but I'm going to try to explain what I know lol

If your dvd drive is flashed with iXtreme 1.6, you should be able to click "create dummy" and get the dvd keys without any probe or anything, this goes for all lite-on drives.

If the drive is flashed with any LT fw, the probe WILL NOT WORK. I found this out the hard way. If you put the probe in the 707 hole, the green light does not light up, I don't know why, but you just cannot retrieve the keys this way.

Hopefully you have they key somewhere saved from before, but if not, not all is lost.

You can do the MRA hack and get the keys off the drive, if it's flashed with LT. That goes for the 7, 8v1, 8v2, and 9 series drives.

If I didn't answer the question, then sorry, ask again and I'll try to answer to the best of my ability :D

First off, don't get so hostile when someone tries asking a question to help you dude... Were all here to help eachother... And second, the reason he asked was there is no LT 1.6. There is ixtreme1.6 and itxreme LT, and LT 1.1 for liteons. If it is ixtreme 1.6, then it will be pretty easy for you because all you have to do it the dummy from extreme. And I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but when you say you have the drive half open, are you actually opening the drive tray half way or are you opening the drive casing? That is where the ck3 comes in handy because of the eject button. Pm me or ask on here if you need more help.

Re: Is there anyway to get the Key off a LT1.6?

Ok my apologies. I just realized you are correct. I was confusing ix1.6 with LT. The drive has LT1.1 on it not ix1.6. I have the ck3 plugged in with the eject button being used. When I eject and put the drive tray half way I tried doing the dummy from extreme and it just tells me it can't read it and that the drive should be half open (which it is). I assume this is because you can't extract from extreme if it has LT on it. That is why I started the thread, because I need to extract the key to put LT+ on.

Re: Is there anyway to get the Key off a LT 1.1?

You are correct... Now you have to do the mra hack... I would recommend the boxxdr method (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=698256) just because I've seen way too many people f**k up their drives by ripping that little pad off... And instead of using the pen to scrape all the green covering away, use a razor blade or xacto knife and scrape ONLY the traces you need to use, because when you go to solder everything back to normal, this leaves less of a chance to solder it to a ground (the ck3 won't turn on). Good luck... Let me know if you need help.
