It's been a long night, please bear with me guys, X-S forums are still down so I don't have anywhere else to post this. Story on this console: I obtained it from an acquaintance as payment for fixing the RRoD on his falcon (Acquaintance was novice Xbox hardware, messed with ****** s***ty 3rd party glitchers and DVD flashing). He said this worked just fine except for the DVD drive, open tray error. Took it home, it seemed to run fine for a little while then RRoD'd. Well, whatever, didn't bother checking error code or anything, just tossed it in the closet with the rest of the graveyard. Fast forward a few months, my primary console at the time, an R-JTAG falcon, bites the dust with the dreaded E74. I dig around and find this old Jasper and decided finding and fixing the RRoD on this one would be a lot less painful than dealing with an E74. So I go to turn it on and get the secondary error code. Huh. Won't turn on. Power brick light is orange, AV cables plugged in, everything seems fine. Plug in a controller, hit the guide button, the console starts right up to the dashboard. Test the buttons, controller sync works, eject doesn't, power doesn't. So I swap out the ROL board with one I pulled from a working Xenon. Same issue. LED's work fine, wireless controllers work fine. I decide I'll deal with it since it was basically free and install the R-JTAG. Red flags start going off immediately upon installation. Rater shows the POST going to full boot, but no image on the screen. Stock NAND, works fine. Write ECC again, still no image. Can't check for secondary error codes because eject button doesn't work. Ugh.

Here's the fun part. I start going through diagnostics on this thing. First thing I noticed was 12v fan mod. Threw that s*** in the trash and installed vanilla DVD power and fan. Then I checked the thermal paste. Oh god, the horror. It had definitely been replaced...more like drowned. The entire CPU and GPU chips were covered in it and it had leaked underneath the chips and all around them. I applied thermal removal compound from Radioshack to get rid of the bulk of it and used q-tips, isopropyl alcohol and air duster to clean the rest. I made sure it was spotless and that there was no more compound around the solder joints or surrounding areas, put a dab of new paste on each chip and replaced the heat sinks. Straight to Xell.
So now I have a nearly full-functional R-JTAG Jasper. Only problem is, those two buttons STILL don't work and it's beginning to annoy me severely. The only related issues I've seen have been a damaged resistor when installing the JTAG QSB, but my problem existed well before anything was installed. The motherboard appeared vanilla except for the 12v fan and thermal paste. I've included pictures of the areas I think can be relevant, but I've left it out of it's shell so I can take close up pictures of any other important spots. Thanks in advance.
