Power Problems

BASICALLY

i have correctly flashed, installed and configured the chip with the latest bios using a solderless xapter.

with no hard drive and dvd drive being connected, i boot up perfectly to the X logo with the chip off and the flashbios screen with the chip on etc.

however, when i connect up the hard drive and dvd drive, regardless of the chip being on or off, i get a black screen and get a red light at the front of the xbox.

Then the xbox just randomly switches on and off and the power dies down.

Check for bent pins on your IDE connection...

Replace your IDE cable...

Check to see if your DVD power cable (little yellow one) is kinked.

What are the jumper settings on the hard drive? Is this a new drive, or the original?
