I've found all the tuts on installing a power on switch on your S controller, but was wondering if anyone's installed one on a xbox using X3 and the external switch that comes with it? I'm wondering if the switch that would be put on the S controller would give off too "long" of a signal and cause the chip to be disabled.

Also most of the tuts say you have to solder a yellow wire from the controller port onto the eject/power "board" or one of the groups of yellow cables running from that "board" to the motherboard. Which would be best?

I know i should just get my lazy A*S off of the couch and just turn the thing on but i like shortcuts, and am lookin for a small project for a rainy day.

You should go into your evo-x settings, and change the "In Game Reset" to YES. Then, whenever you want to reset your XBOX, just hold, Left Trigger, Right Trigger, Black, and Back. I think this is the code: If not Back, then it will be Start.

For a project for a rainy day, add led's to your XBOX instead, or a DVD Window. I made a tutorial for the DVD Window in "XBOX CUSTOMISATIONS", called "Tutorial: DVD Window".

If this helps, please add to my rep. Thanks. :)

The IGR works fine. I want to be able to power on my with the controller while sitting on my couch.

As far as the other mods... they're on my list too but I'd like to do the power switch on the controller first cause that's the one I'd use the most.

Well I would solder to the yellow wires because if you soldered to the board, it wouldn't fit very easily in the place it's located when you try to put it back.

Solder to the wires that go to the two left hand vertical connectors on the power switch as you are facing it. Then with your additional switch it will only boot as enabled. To boot with the chip disabled you will have to get up. I would get a quick tap switch.

WTF, yeah that mod works fine for me and my friend, just use a momentary push button, so when you hold it long it turns the chip off, yata yata yata

Thanks for the info...

I was confused about the momentary switches.. I thought they would "click" so to speak...

Just picked some up and now I see what you mean, they're just "pressure" switches
