Hi, I know its possible to power the dvd drive off of pc power, i've seen it on youtube, but i was wondering if someone could post a turorial or schematice or diagram or something to help me out thanks. Also, on a side note, im working on building a ck3 type power connector for my dvd drives from scratch but to no success. i used a tutorial off youtube and it didn't work. the thing is supposed to power the dvd drive off of molex power but it won't work. i have an extra dvd drive power cable that i cut up and connected to the molex wires and to resistors and stuff all on a plain pcb circuit board proto board thingy from radio shack and it didn't work.

I also did the eject switch on my own from some other stuff that i read on the internet with google. can't remember were i got the information though but what i did was i connected pin 3 i think it was to a switch with ground and 3.3v so i could switch pin 3 from being connected to nothing to being connected to ground to being connected to 3.3v. I'm trying to make this because i can't afford a ck3 at the moment and am impatient and don't want to wait until i have the money which could be a few months, but this is intended to be temporary because once i can afford it i will buy the ck3.
