Powering drive with another xbox

They say using the xbox to power your drive can ban it.

I have another xbox I don't care if it gets banned. Its a fat lite on.

Could I take the drive from my other one, a fat benq, and use the liteon one to power the drive to flash it? The power cables are the same, no?

you can use whatever you want to power your drive, but this is a TX product support forum and you wont get any support on what you are asking about.

dude.. why go through all the trouble.. at the very least, you can buy a CK3 mini and it will power any drive and it has eject feature.. less than $20

obviously there are other options by TX which are more expensive but they give you so much more features.. makes the job E-Z :)

You obviously don't care about the drive or the motherboard either. I've lost count of the number of people who've damaged either/both by trying to emulate a DVD drive power cycle with a console motherboard.

yes you can use what ever power source wether it be from xbox or external powerr though be careful to plug in the correct way otherwise you will bork the drive good and proper lol
