I have the x3ce and I just finished the lpc rebuild install. I connected everything back and when I press the power ubtton it powers on and frags and then powers off and a second later powers back on and frags. It does this 3 times and then goes to a steady frag. I am not sure what I have done. I have removed the x3 and hooked everything back up and I still get the same result. I have check my solder points and none are touching any other solder points and all appear to be connected correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you are still fraging with everything removed it looks like you either have a solder splash on the motherboard or an broken trace get a magnifing glass and look around the board if you still have the x3 installed there are two leds on the x3 are they both on?

Thanks scottevil. It was a broken trace. I managed to solder direct to the trace, but did not solder back to were the trace origionally terminated. I got that problem fixed and now I can boot with the chip disabled, but when I boot with it enabled it flashes 7 times and then goes solid, but it gives a blank screen. I have the X3 CE and my xbox is a 1.6 (not 1.6b) so I think it should have come with the right BIOS. I am using the HDTV AV pack. Would this cause any problems. I am still trying to find the regular cables it came with to test.

you need to use the stock ms cables to flash your chip.

Where did you find the broken trace? Top, bottom, near a particular chip, etc?
Thanks

The broken trace was D0. The trace wire actually came up off the board. I was able to solder the trace wire to the lpc rebuild chip but it was doing that flash thing. To fix it I just soldered from the D0 point on the lpc rebuild chip to the point where D0 was origionally on the xbox mobo.

But now instead of the power on and off thing it will just flash green and off about seven times and the go solid green. I can get it to boot fine with the chip disabled. I finally found the origional AV cables that came with it and tried those, but I got the same result. Any ideas?

I was getting the same power cycle problem. Seems the transistor collector was bad. I replaced it and the cycle on/off stopped. However, I still have the power up on plug in problem. Follow this link www.llama.com for info on the transistor and its location.

That's a good point on the D0 solder point, it's a painful one. Is there anywhere else on the board I can tap off to hit the rebuild PCB with to make sure it's connected? I'm having the 3 on/off green blinks, then green/red blinks, nothing on screen also. The trace goes back under the rebuild board, so I can't verify if it's broken underneath or not.

I THINK I finally have the 9/15 pin 3.3v problem licked, all leds seem to work fine on the X3 board now.

Ok, upon further review, the trace isn't the one that goes back under the board...doh, but I do have good conductivity through D0. I need to get some flux remover and check out more traces, before giving up completely and sending it to someone to fix up. Argh.
