So I was sitting here thinking about LT+ 2.0 and how I'm gonna go about updating my drive. Then I realised it was pre dash unlocked and it kinda made me think. Is there a chance M$ will lock the drive? I don't understand why they shipped unlocked either? Just wonder if anyone has some info! Cheers.

????????? only 9504 was shipped unlocked and after 13146 all slim drives are locked no matter what drive you have there are several methods to unlock the drives depending on if you have a MXIC or winbond chip.

M$ won't try and lock these drives again cause they presume they are already locked.

Remember to lock your drive again after you have flashed it

13146 update the firmware to 0272, 13599 will locked the drive.

Are you sure your not confusing it with a factory 9504 drive they are unlocked out of the box with 13146 dash or before the 0225 drive is locked coming from the factory.
Positive, I bought the board off this forum and am using it to play backups now. It has not been drilled or had the chip replaced nor is it a TX. I was just told it was a pre dash unlocked board?

That's a 9504 PCB flashed to 0225 though....
If it wasn't locked after the flash, then M$ will pick up on the SPI status and flag it for a ban.
If it was locked.....you'll obviously need to "unlock" it to flash in future

It's a 9504? Isn't that spoofing and it's not live safe? I don't have any kit with me to check to see if it's been locked either.

no- because they are both liteon.....
I don't see the lock SPI command in the log tho
Just attempted a repair on the Xbox support site and it said my warranty was still valid so I don't think I've been flagged. And I've contacted the guy who sold me the board to see if he issued the lock command because I know he reflashed it with the updated firmware.

Am I missing something here

I can't see where the SPi 'Un-lock' command was sent in the JF log :eek2:
there wont have been an unlock command - the PCB was originally a 9504 - not locked ;)

That's why I didn't see it :rolleyes2::facepalm:

So because it was a 9504 Winbond spoofed to a 0225 then without the Kamikaze Hack surely it can't be locked :eek2:

I've never tried, but I'm fairly sure u can issue a lock command to the SPI even without kamikaze can't u?
I'm pretty sure I saw a warning telling us not to press the SPi lock on a Winbond because they are buggers to unlock afterwards. I'll check through JF Tutorial

I'm not saying you can't but it needs someone a lot more experienced than me to say do it because I won't :eek2:

Another problem (apart from not being locked) is if M$ check the OSIG they will see a 0225 when they would be expecting to see 0272 (re-flashed 9504) and could also be potentially flagged for a ban :rolleyes2:

JF tutorial says not to press lock button on fat liteons if you do you then have to do the MRA hack

What was your original drive 0225 or 9504?

As long as you flash the board with the same firmware as your original drive and then lock it you will be fine.

But remember if you want to update in the future you will need to get your dremel out
