i recently flashed my 2.6ce chip on my v1.0 xbox. i used x2.4978.03_512k, and converted that into bios.bin with x2bm, loading that bios onto all four banks. little did i know that i unlocked the hardrive from the flashbios v3.03, which leads me to where i am now. the bios flashed correctly(i think, cause the logo starts up, then loads right to the original xbox screen when no disc is inserted) and reads any bios boot disc as a dirty or scratched disc. when i turn the modchip off and try too start up, i get an error screen with the number 5 at the top left, with the words "your xbox needs service". any suggestions?

It sounds like you no longer need a BIOS disc but now you need a boot disc that will allow you to FTP over a new dashboard. If you're not familiar with how to do this you can take the easy route and download Auto Installer Deluxe (AID) which makes it quite easy.

BTW, the current X2 BIOS is 5035. 4798 is well over two years old now I think. If updating to 5035 you'll want to use the "vOld" version for your 1.0 Xbox, the "v16" or maybe "v1.6" is for 1.6 Xboxes only. These should be included in the 3.x versions of AID.
