Hello, today I received my NAND X and Coolrunner. I bought this as a set from eBay item no. 280779220451

I have confirm that my motherboard in my xBox is a Falcon one, and the dash version is 2.0.13599.0.

What's the next step for me? Do i need a QUICK SOLDER BOARDS thing? Is my console fine for modding? I have a flash DVD drive with LT2+ does that matter? Do i need to flash my drive back to stock or does that not matter?

QSBs have better boot time but are not essential. if everything came that the site says it sent, then you are good.

Falcons are great for glitching! No need to bother with the drive for the glitch. QSB is a personal choice. I can't get to grips with them although they are well made and easy to fit for some. The most important thing is Can you solder? There are some real small points to get on to. I wouldn't dare try without the proper iron and flux and the rb315 point is pretty delicate unless you have confidence and are pretty steady with your iron.

If you aren"t used to soldering the next step is some practice on something cheaper than an xbox!!

I haven't noticed any difference in boot times with or without qsb. Given the random nature of the glitch with eqch console I don't know if you can state that the boot is quicker with or without them.

Thanks for the replies. I can't solder, but i bought myself a nice new one with a 1mm tip and get plenty of old soundcards kicking around here to practice on! Is my dashbaord the correct version for the glitch? Would you recommend the QSB for someone with limited soldering experience? What tutorials / videos should i watch to give me a good idea of what I'm soldering to what? There's loads of QSB boards on eBay but they are only for SLIM models, do they make them for the PHAT version?

i would recommend them for you at this time, for them just out a bit of flux on the point and a small amount of solder and watch the points connect! a tut for the install can be found on the stickys in the RGH support area, and yes they make a phat version, i buy all my stuff from modchips.ca

Look here http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74166&highlight=solder

Can't emphasise enough to practice it feels awful to burn out a good console for the sake of a bit of practice. Open your xbox and look at the points we're playing with. Find any old circuit board and find the same size and difficulty and have a play.

Don't forget the flux you wont get anywhere without it no matter what you think or hear, especially as a novice.

Also have a look at the alt points for r3b15 cause thats where most are screwing up.

As far as solder goes use as little as possible is my advice. Just like cooking it's easier to add more than take away

oh and your dash is fine you can update to 13604 if you like but the glitch image at the end will update for you otherwise.

thoughs are for the nand-x and Original Jtag method, you wont use thoughs if your doing the RGH cause you would have to take them off to put on the other QSB

only if you never plan to jtag another xbox, you can sell them to cover the cost of your other QSB though.

Right ok, it's weird because that link you sent me said "Includes the J1D2 and J2B1", I have both of those, although the j2b1 doesnt have that long part on it, it has the white and green cable connecters on it.

Right I'm back! Everything has been delivered. My drive is flash with LT2+, do i need to revert to stock? Will updating to 13604 revert my drive back to stock as well as allowing me to perform the RGH? I've been practicing soldering tiny points on an old router which i dismantled, I'm feel i'm up for the task. Any last thing I need to know before i attempt this?

Just to let you guy's know how I'm getting on. I've installed the QSBs and had a huge issue with nandpro not finding the nandx. It kept saying "Could not continue". I unsoldered everything and started again, still no luck. I had a search around this forum and found a couple of posts with people who had the same issue but none of their solutions helped. Anyway, I realised that my xbox power pack was showing a red light (not sure why). But i disconnected it from the mains and plugged it back in and nandpro found my device and i dumped my nand and created the XELL image and flash it back to the nand. I'm going to solder the rest of the points tomorrow and hopefully get the coolrunner up and running!
