I had a toshiba premium system that i used for about a year modded. Just a while ago i got the ring of death. So i am going to go and buy a new console and was wondering if i was to buy a toshiba core system would that be the same (modding wise, ability to use same power supply, cords) as my current premium system. (other than the fact the the tray is white not silver)
Also can you use hardrives on the core systems?

You cannot choose what drive will be in your xbox360 when you are buying it, its pretty much random.

Secondly, you have to understand that a core system and a premium system are exactly the same, the only difference is in the accessories and some minor cosmetic changes.

Starting with a core system the difference between it and a premium is simply a hard drive and a chrome DVD tray cover and eject button, and of course also any package can have any drive in it, the drives are interchangable.

you can just go to gamestop and buy a used one . . .
they will let you look through all the drives before you buy it. . . .

Yes, and that method has worked for me thus far. I have probably ~80 hours on mine and it hasn't happened again (yet).
