Primer on using the switches?

Okay, I've got 1959 flashed fine, and I have the external switch installed, but I just have all the switches set to "off". When I flash the BIOS using X3CL, I pick the first option (I think 1+2+3+4).

Let's say I want to flash FlashBios into 8. Any advice on:

a) How to ensure I'm flashing 8
b) How to boot from 8 vs. 1+2+3+4?

I'm a techie, so I'm sure I'm just missing something, but the 8 banks + 4 switches is what I can't quite figure out how to map...

TIA!

Everything I've read about flashing the X3 indicates that I have to flash it with a 1024K bios, which effectively gives me 2 x 1024k bios areas.

Is this correct, and if so, why then are there so many switches/bank setting ?

If it is not correct, when could/would I use a 256k or 512k bank ?

Can someone help me understand this.

Thanks.

There are 8 256kb banks. To use the X3 BIOS...which is 1mb...you flash in 1mb banks consisting of 4 256kb banks.

So when you go to flash from either the network or the HDD/DVD, it will ask you to specify the file, then ask you what bank you want to flash it to - autodetecting the size and giving you bank options accordingly. For instance, if you select an X3 BIOS which is 1mb, it will as whether you want to flash to banks 1,2,3,4 or banks 5,6,7,8. If you try to flash an X2 or any other 256kb BIOS, it will give you the option of any bank up to 8...though obviously if you're using a 1mb BIOS on 1,2,3,4 you'll only have 5, 6, 7, or 8 as options

Then use the switch guide I linked to to decide what bank you want to boot from.

Problem Pcb 74850c When Open Drive or dead laizer

hallo.
i have a problem with a lite-on 74850c.

a friend of mine tried to flash himself and joined false the power cord to the drive. when put in the console and pulled out sparks are in this situation now PCB.

stuck with conductive paste the sign in question with a multimeter and saw that the associations are fine.
the drive is working properly. opened and closed normally.
the xbox when I put open properly without 3rrod but when he opened the door to put a game then the screen tanning.
I tried to get the key to xtractor and while normally sees the jungleflasher when I put the half-open door then freeze the windows.
dos and work through the process l-o-eras but does not see the drive and not my turns status 72.
with a few words I can not get the key.
Is there any way to pull otherwise the key? the process MRA HACK reasonably be able to take it correctly;
know why when I put the drive in half-open door because it creates this problem;

you need to replace that transistor because it's bad now... it's the part in
the upper middle with 3 legs on the left side of it, and to the left of the r707 hole. the dot on it next to the middle leg tells me the the transister
is bad. because it shorted out and burned a hole threw the transistor.

also you would have to check the other burned components and see if they
are good or bad and replace them accordingly.

if you don't have component level troubleshooting & soldering skills your
pretty much done.

as for any other way to pull the key...

you would have to pull the chip (the one with glue on it) and place it on
a working board from another drive to pull the keys from it.

it's very hard to lift the mt1319l chip without damaging the legs or solder
pads under each leg....
