Problem converting jtag to original

I am trying to convert a once jtagged xenon xbox that is/was plagued with the E79 error. I have tried everything to get rid of it including re-soldering the jtag points. Sometimes it will boot, if I hold the sync button or press it repeatedly and sometimes it will not. I have a nand x kit on it now and I'm trying to convert the jtag nand back to virgin nand, so I can rule out the jtag hack as the culprit of the E79. Problem is I cannot tell if I still have xell, because the box will not ever boot when pressing eject.

any help?

I have a virgin nand that I dumped from a xenon yesterday that has never seen live. I should be able to use it right?

I ended up upgrading to freeboot on the console mentioned earlier. The console boots every time now, but the fan is running full speed. For the life of me I cannot figure out why. It does not have a noticeable 12v mod. I fixed the e79 with a reflow and rrod pro kit 2. But after, still have the full speed fan problem. I have also tried 3 different fans.
Anyone?

Also the fan was running at full speed with xbr also. There is no jtag app on the console that would force the fan to run like this either....

the fans running at full speed would suggest corrupt or incorrect smc config. if the virgin nand was not the one off this box this will be the trouble as the settings are different. open up in 360 flash tool and open config and have a look.

Agreed, do you have the original nand dump from this xbox?

no guys, I bought the box with xbr already jtagged. The box would constantly e79, so I thought maybe the previous owner's soldering was the fault. I took off the jtag hack and used the 2 wires (red and yellow) left over from nandx kit. (the kit has a xenon jtag, and 1 jtag kit for falcon, etc.) and then made my own jumper wire.

After re-doing the jtag wiring and still e79, I questioned my soldering skills. The box would boot almost always while holding sync, but pressing eject to try to boot xell would always result with e79. So I used coolshrimps jtag tool.

I dumped the nand that was on the box with e79 first(the xbr nand) 3 times all matched

Then I erased xbr and replaced with original option in coolshrimps tool. (I used another nand from another xenon that had never been connected to live) Then I dumped that nand 3 times. all matched

still e79, so I wrote xell onto nand, then the box booted into xell. Then I wrote freeboot onto nand. Now I have freeboot, with no e79, and it boots without holding sync but fans are loud.

above is current status. what tool are you referring to ted, 360 flash tool? Coolshrimps?

And again guys, I do not have the original nand dump before the box had xbr, because I bought it with xbr and e79 error. I did not jtag it originally.

picked up 360 flash dump tool v0.97, opened a few nand files to try to compare. Not sure what everything means and really unsure where to look to see if smc is corrupt or incorrectly setup.

Can anyone give me a simple step by step what to look for, here?

Fan speed set to full isn't really a bad thing, I do that as default anyhow on all my JTAG's.

What do you want to do with the console now? Leave it running freeboot but with default fan settings etc or get it back to original MS dash?

I thought the full fan speed was a sign that something went wrong during the nand writing process. But, someone suggested look around the power connect at the 3 legged chips. Then I spotted a chip that had 2 of its legs bridged together for 12volt. The solder bridge was so small I had to look for about 5 minutes to make sure it was actually touching. That was the reason for fan full speed. Thanks for any advice and help guys.
