problem flashing sh-162c with kreon 0.81 fw

just bought a black sh-162c and installed in my pc, works fine for dvds etc but when ive tried to flash it it comes up firmware incompatible?

not sure what to do really, can anyone help?

did you burn a cd-r with the firmware?

no just used it from a file like it says in the instructions

hmmmm.... usually when i'm updating a firmware for a disk drive i burn it to a cd-rw. make it bootable and reboot the computer with the disk in the drive. i've never flashed a sh-162c before but i've flashed others.

just seems straight forward in the instructions, its also the same way as outlined in the tutorial on here so i cant understand whats going wrong?

well man i don't have any other suggestions for you.... if it's playing dvd's then you know it's powered up and installed correctly. just googled it and found nothing.

The fix for this is quite simple.

1. Open a command prompt.
2. Change directory to the folder where the kreon.
3. run this command sfdnwin.exe -nocheck.
4. All will be well.

For example. if the kreon firmware is in C:\Kreon

open command prompt

Type cd \kreon
Hit return
Type sfdnwin.exe -nocheck
Hit return.

That's it. :wink:
