I have been brought a box with a zephyr board and a hitachi 46 drive to try and fix. Im no stranger to flashing but this is my first hitachi and I have a problem... The flashing process went smooth and got the key no problem, flashed to LT 2.0 and plugged back in and... Play DVD :eek2:, except when I put in a XDG3 game backup it says play game with no picture. I am just wondering if it might be A- Bad flash somewhere, B- Totally wrong key or C- Maybe the laser is failing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a Biach of an Hitachi drive that played XGD3 but not original....

Re-Flashed back to Stock and it wouldn't play originals....

Finally changed the laser and it played originals....flashed CFW and it played both....

I had never heard/read about this problem until someone on here suggested to swap the laser.....

Thought I was going mad....good luck I hope this helps :)

EDIT:_ You wouldn't have read the thread because it's in the VIP section :p

Thanks sp4rkst4rt3r, sounds like a plan. I was hoping to RGH it to make 100% sure it was the right key, but its on latest dash. I will purchase a new laser and see how I get on. I will report back with any progress...

QUICK EDIT - Does it matter that I can mode B the drive without the eject/power cycle method?

I just bought a HD63 replacement laser for my drive and it says I have to remove the "anti-protection solder point". I have been looking but cant find any info or pics as to what that is. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great?

I dont wanna be rude but did you google it? I googled hd63 antistatic and selected pictures, this was my first hit http://www.console-spares.co.uk/catalog/media/gbu0/prodlg/xbox-360-sf-hd63-laser-asp.jpg

Its as easy as that.

Its not rude and I did google it, but I googled "anti-protection solder point" when obviously I should have googled "antistatic point". I was just going by what it said in the description of the product and didnt know there was other names for it. Oh well, another lesson learned :rolleyes2: And thanks for the pic, very helpful.

I don't think it's another name I would say its an error in the description anti-protection kind of defeats the point of what it's actually there for

Well, I have been reading a lot and It seems I might have a falcon board. I am using a 175w power supply and that can only be a falcon (apparently!!!). It also seems when its a refurb unit falcons can have HDMI. Im not sure about any of this info so I am posting pics to see if anyone can have a look and give me any advice. I am posting a link http://www.360drives.com/list?v_videomode=pal&v_board=3&v_perpage=50&sort=drive&desc=1 and it appears there were no hitachi 46 drives used on falcon boards. This is what I know for a FACT... 1 - My power connector has no middle pin, 2 - It has a HDMI socket, 3 - It has a small GPU heatsink and 4 - I dont think that is the original drive (not a fact but could be wrong). I am hoping someone tried to put a new drive in it and didnt spoof it right i.e just copied over the correct key but forgot to spoof the drive as a Benq (hopefully). Take a look at the pics and let me know if anyone can shed some light on this very dark situation
. As far as I can tell its a complete frankenbuild.

Just got hold of a spare benq, flashed the key to it and....... E74. Does that mean its the right drive wrong key or is there still hope if I try a lite-on flashed with the same key? I am starting to think the key I got was the original hitachi key (not the right drive) and its on the new dash so no RGH either. Looks like I might have to chalk this one up to experience. Any help or opinions would be great right now???

That is a legit GPU error. Are the original X-Clamps in place?

I havnt touched anything since 2 days ago when it was working fine with the hitachi drive in it. The only thing I have done is put the benq drive in it to see if that was the correct original drive and first switch on gave me E74. I will try with the hitachi drive again to see what happens...

---------- Post added at 20:08 ---------- Previous post was at 20:05 ----------

Nope still E74 all the time now, any good tips on how to get rid of that before I try the benq again???

I am getting a 1022 secondary error with the sync/eject... I think this will be a learning experience after all.

Thanks to everyone for the info, it was a very cheap buy from ebay so probably not worth getting fixed. I dont know if I have the right key and it was on the newest dash so it will be my first fail... oh well...
