Problem : FTP transfer of large number of files

I am copying the contents of a dvd from the Xbox drive to my pc. Latest bios and previous bios behave the same. Using FlashFXP. After approx 650 files have transfered the link is lost. reboot xbox, reconnect, and restart transfer, and all is well. Except that some folders are reported as empty. Following an Xbox AND pc reboot these folders are populated, but others are reported as empty (on the Xbox).

I transfered the contents maybe a dozen times (with skip on same size file set) untill I got two consecutive transfers with only skips. I think I have the whole disk, but cannot be completely sure.

Has anybody else found this, is it a bug with the X3 bios's, my Flash FXP, or just the fact that the disk has over 10,000 files in total!

Any sugestions are welcome

Thanks

Martin,

By FTP server do you mean the program I'm using ? if so FlashFXP

X3 boot screen (Configlive ? I don't quite understand), but not a dashboard

Thanks

Im having the same problem. I use Flashfxp, and it happens if im in ConfigLive and Avalaunch. It will be going good, and then after it transfers a file, it will just hang, and i'll restart my xbox, and then reconnect and i will be able to transfer the rest. Any ideas?

hmmm, I never use config live FTP, I can never get it to work. I also hate FlashFXP, it always gays up on me. When I connect to any ftp server, it says I am connected, but for some reason it shows that I am in an empty directory. The config live FTP server also seems to never work for me. I think that its just that X3CL and CuteFTP hate eachother. I use avalaunch and cuteFTP for normal transfers, and Avalaunch and Quix for transfering .ISOs

Being as the X3 BIOS is constantly being updated, try using Avalaunch Dashboard and FTPing with xbox/xbox as username/password.

Nah... I get the same thing, no matter which FTP client I am using, and which dashboard. It seems like the Xbox does not like thousands of file transfers.

I haven't tried it yet.... but since there is a unzip option in the new bios, maybe that'd be the best way to transfer 10 thousand + files, and ensure they all arive?

I use FlashFXP and have norton internet security and found that FlashFXP would lose the connection after a few minutes, when I disable the norton security it transfers no probs

And also check your screensaver.

This one is problably not the problem, confg Firewalls to accept
FTP {port 21} and FTP data {port 22} transfer.

I'm useing the FlashFXP with no problem at all {speeds between 8000-12000kb depending on network load}. Have only XP firewall
on my internal network.
