Hi guys, I require your help plz...
Yesterday night i started with my first xc2c64a based jtag, i used the following xc2c64a pcb...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Xilinx-XC2C...lectrical_Equipment_Tools&hash=item27be5d7e17

and the programming cable i used is this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Xilinx-Parallel-Cable-III-PC3-JTAG-Programmer-Program-CPLD-include-XC2C64A-C-Mod-/260850391934?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D3173719547298356810

I supplied it with 3.3v with my ck3 properly following the tutorial and double checked the wiring and everything was perfect and then i installed xilinx lab tools and opened impact x64(As i m running win 7 ultimate 64bit). followed the tutorial and got an error on all the five pcb's that i have
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/405/errorel.png/

As you can see in the pic i am getting this "unknown bypass" error and i am not able to program the chip becuz of this problem(I am using an lpt card ordered from ebay)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1284-PCI-IE...421?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27ba916d4d

So guys plz help me as i m stuck.....

EDIT:- Also tried on a friends pc with on board lpt port but still the same result.....

Thanks.:)

^ find whatever this is

"
Any supported Xilinx device will be recognized and labeled and any other device will be labeled as unknown. iMPACT will then highlight each device in the chain and prompt you for a configuration file"

Double check make sure these spots line up with what you have.
They will either be labeled on the board itself or you will have to look up the data sheet and find them in their

I believe you can exclude the vcc since you got external power already.... Possibly be able to use the vcc instead of the external source... (Dont know for a fact im better with sh*t when I have it in front of me.....

Really if any more issues just make your own cable cost 4 bucks from radio ripoff
I got a sh*t ton of pics of home made ones if you like really easy soldering just like making the lpt cable for jtag

i have sucessfully used the same cool runner II boards, with a home made parallel cable, and it works fine, so I would suggest that its your cable, pull it bits and check the wiring against the actual requriement on the TUT

These are the boards I'm using at the moment and I have a homemade cable as well. You need to get 3.3v to the board regardless, but the LPT shouldn't need anything.

Are you sure you've wired it up correctly?

The shorter the cable the better. I'd say half a meter is about right. Also you could use the schematics for the jtag cable from the RGH guide as it's slightly different from the one used above.

Hello,

Can you tell me how long cable you use?
I try to find out what can be the problem but cannot identify it.
The chips all recognized as Unknown and I not really understood the problem. I changed the cable but still the same.
Hi, sorry for the delayed reply... plz use the schematic that i have posted in this thread and keep the wires about half a meter in length and it has to work for sure as it has for me and many people. And be sure to supply Vcc and gnd via your ck3.

I tried that cable which is in the guide but the same Unknown chip.
I have few question which is not clear for me.
When you programming the chip, did you solder the connectors to the motherboard of the box or you program it and then solder it?
Is it ok if I get the 3.3 v from the motherboard? I use the matrix chip. Its not clear for me its need to get 3.3V from the LPT/JTAG panel and from the board too or only from 1 place is enough?

I will try it and come back with the result.
Thanks for your help.
Hello,

I tried it with a 0,5 m cable made the gligli cable and made another gave the 3.3 V and try it with 3 machines and nothing unknown bypass all the time.

What can be wrong?

I was having this exact same issue with an eBay Coolrunner XC9500.

Everything I tried was showing unknown/bypass. Eventually tried another PC - still did the same, but I decided not to bother with external 3.3v and took it direct from LPT pin 1.

THIS WORKED but only after I made the cable VERY short, approx 10cm!

After programming, soldered it to my friends Falcon - worked great!

Kind regards
