Tried jtagging a friend's falcon using jtagtool (old version cos I have not gotten my NAND-X updated), dumped the NAND 4x but whenever I write xell I keep getting E79 error, I know the console is jtaggable cos degraded 1.1b gave me this information
CB Version 5770 LDV 0
CD Version 5770
CE Version 1888
CE Version 7371 LDV 3
CF(1) Version 6690 LDV 2
I even tried following modmonster's guide http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55024 still the same e79, is there another route to follow? Thanx

What method are you using for JTAGGIN?
AUD_CLAMP & DVD_TRAY ?

Yes, I am using the AUD_CLAMP and DVD OPEN_TRAY

Yeah best method too, easy to solder. With 2 diodes I take it?

Are you using Multibuilder to create ecc-file?

The Xell.bin must be configured to use the alternate points. E79 is either a wiring issue or NAND issue (ALWAYS!).

If you are using CoolShrimp's JTAG tool, you will see a folder within the install folder called 'Xell bins' within that folder, you should see a few .bin files. The one you want for AUD_CLAMP and TRAY_OPEN is falconBOTH.bin.

Write that file and xell will boot (as long as your wiring is good!).

I think my soldering is ok

Close-ups of each point would help. The Yellow wire going to the AUD_CLAMP point is exposed. You would either cover it or trim it closer to that heat-shrink tubing to be sure it isnt making contact with another point on the board. Keep in mind, when re-assembled, that will all be compressed and could be making contact with something you dont want it to.

Again, close ups of each point (the ones on the top too).

Did you do the shrink wrap on the diodes yourself or is that how they were provided to you. Just asking because it looks like you may have one of your diodes faceing the wrong way.

Looks like the red wire needs to be flipped. Diodes are directional. Plus you should really trim them down so there is less wire exposed.

My NAND is ok cos after writing xell and showing e79 I wrote my original NAND back and it booted into dashboard

I got those wires with my NAND X kit

Thanks, tried that and it did not work, will be getting a diode tomorrow to check. I have a T4148, can I use that or must be a 1N4148

first of all, your red wire is facing the wrong way
second, cut the leg of the diode so it ain't that long
third, have you remembered to short point 4 and 7 ?

Tried changing the diodes to 1N4148 but still having the same e79 error.
Don't know how to use a multimeter to check the resistance. So a lil help will be mostly appreciated

Try a 330ohm resistor between J2D2.4 and J2D2.7.

Set you meter to Ohms and put the black probe on a Ground point and the red probe on the J2D2.1 point. Do the same with J2D2.2. Nothing should be plugged in.
