ok guys i got a prob here

i have flashed many 360 drives with no problems with no problems until today .

if the 360 is not connected to the sata the sata card works fine , but when i connect the 360 an exclamation mark only comes when I boot into windows with the 360 hooked up to the sata port on the PCI SATA card.

i have never had this problem . i am trying to flash a hitatchi drive

cheers

Ok, that's fine, 1st make sure you Eject the drive back and forth while windows is loading (this is important)

Also make sure that you don't install the RAID tool, and that the card drivers are up-todate.

Also make sure you are using SLAX 2.1 or the latest.

If all this info is ok, make sure the SATA cable is ok (it's not likely to be damaged but just in case)

Tell me the outcome.

Are you using a Via VT6421L and trying to flash a v59? I had this problem previously and again this morning with two different drives (same version of course). I could not get it detected with my via. It would say there was an error with the device. No matter what technique i used, same result. If i tried to hotswap after booting, it would freeze windows. I tried old drivers, newer drivers (v5.30c) and the newest driver (v5.40). No luck at all. I gave up, went out and bought a silicon image sata controller and flashed it on the first boot. Why this happens with this version i havent yet figured out.

Hi,

I had the same issue here with a hitachi drive freezing windows or if left long enough would finally boot into windows but as said above my Sata card had a "!" next to it in device manager. So after a lot of pissing about I managed to get it working and flashed it...

I had to boot my machine into windows then with 360 powered of attach cable to Hitachi drive.
Using the 2 wires trick I then powered on 360 and got into modeb.
Now checked "My Computer" and drive (G) was present.
Windows did not freeze or even run slow.
Was then able to flash fine.

Hope this helps...
