I just tried to flash my Hitachi 47 and when I typed the command FLASH23S G 6863 into the command prompt it got to where it says flashing sector 1/9 and didn't make it any further... I let it sit for quite a while too.

Any reason why this would happen? I've got an ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 motherboard with ULi m1695/ULi M1567 chipset. I did all the checks and the systyem was definately in ModeB and the drive was recognized by windows.

And just for my own clarification, the purpose of booting from slax is solely to get the unit into ModeB, correct? So any errors encountered while booting from Slax are trivial so long as the unit is in ModeB?

Thanks in advance,
Cheers

edit: Also...what harmful effects, if any, could come from the failed attempt?

You are correct about the Slax disc, it's sole purpose is for putting the drive into ModeB, nothing else.

As for your lockup, it should be fine if it did in fact lock up at 1/9. The first sector is just a test as far as I know. That way, if it messes up on the first sector, it will know to not continue going. The first sector is unused.

Try updating your SATA drivers, and copying the X-LG directory to the C: drive , then running it from there.
