Problem with game saves

About two months ago, I sent my 360 out to someone from the "Modding Services" board to get my unit Jtag'd. He did the hack and sent it back, and I installed XEXmenu on the console so I'd be able to play games off of an external hard drive. I ran into a problem with saving games, and he recommended I come to this board for help.

The first backup that I played off of the hard drive was NHL 11, and I had no problems with it. Everything saved fine. Other backups I tried to play, though, refuse to save. When I start a game up (e.g. Smackdown vs Raw 2K11) I get an error that it couldn't connect to XBox Live and that it will be unable to save my progress. I am also unable to save games on FIFA 11, GTA4, GTA Episodes of Liberty City, and a Need for Speed game. As you can imagine, this is less than optimal. I loaded Red Dead Redemption from its original disk (not a backup) and ran into the same "Xbox Live can't connect. Game won't be saved" deal, and then the game got stuck on a loading screen.

Has anyone ran into any trouble with game saves on a JTag'd machine? I've never exposed the console to an internet connection, let alone logged in to XBox Live, so I'm not sure exactly what's going on. I appreciate any help that anyone can offer. Admittedly, I don't know a ton about the 360 and would be helpless trying to troubleshoot the problem by myself.

Thanks,
Bryan

If it's any help, any time a game tries to save a box pops up with "Xbox LIVE" in the header. The messsage says "This feature is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. Status Code: d0000032." I tried to look on google for information on the status code, but I can't find anything that matches my issue. It looks like it might be related to an XBox Live update, but I don't really know how to fix the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bryan

Well i had the same problem!Fix it by doing the avatar system update related to the dashboard i have! Can you see your avatar with clothes on ...wend you plug the system on?Or do you get just a blank figure on the avatar?

*If you have another xbox 360 just for LIVE,try connecting the hard drive from that 360 to the jtag one and see if then the games get saved.I think your missing some kind of update (not a dashboard update) but likely the avatar one,on your jtag system.

Thanks for reading over my issue and offering your assistance, guys.

I pulled out the HDD and put it back in; to no avail. Same with a reset.

Tried to install the MS Update and messed up. I got the corresponding update for my freeboot (12625) and copied the extracted files onto the root of a flash drive. Put the drive into the usb slot but nothing happened upon load up. Went into XEXmenu and copied the contents into the $SystemUpdate folder on HDD1, which ended up messing up the machine with an E71 error.

Not really sure what I need to do next. I'm a noob when it comes to the 360. Someone did my JTAG for me, but supplied me with the cpu key, dvd key, nand, etc. If anyone could point me in the right direction as to how to get rid of the E71 problem; I'd appreciate it. I'm hoping after ridding the E71 that the update might be the help that I need (avatar was indeed blacked out) but don't really know.

Thanks guys.

This is exactly why you see the error, i Jtagged a brand new machine for myself a few weeks back but only used it for the first time on wednesday. I couldn't save any games and kept seeing the "d0000032", I simply installed the avatar update and now it works fine.

Apparently you do sometimes get the error but after a reboot the avatars seem to work fine.

If your still having problems, rather than spending hours messing about i would suggest starting from scratch with a fresh freeboot. You can create a new freeboot using your provided NAND dump and CPU key, flash this to your console, do the avatar update and then apply the dashlaunch patches again. Once all that is done you should be good to go.

U did the avatar update wrong does it boot up no errors With out the hdd if so boot it up no hdd attach hdd launch xex loader delete ms update than put the $update folder on USB stick if U have dashlaunch installed add another $ in front of the update name if u don't know if dash launch is there or not have 2 copy's of the update on the USB stick with both names turn off console insert USB stick hold the sync button an turn system on and allow update

from your given scenario this is just my educated guess on a fix for this problem

E71 is a screwed up dash error in case u didn't know if this doesn't work you will either need to send it back to your modder for fixing or buy a flasher provided u can't get your dash to boot at all

If u need to buy a flasher I recommend asking your modder What flasher he used If it was a NAND x than he probably did a pin header install in which case you shouldn't need to do any soldering just buy a NAND x use jtag tool build your fb and flash but ask your modder about these details or take your 360 apart to be certin

Like I said just my 2 cents I'm no pro by any means

Take the machine to a modder before you ruin it for good.

Weither way at the moment you dont need the latest dashboard to play your backups,12625 its sufficient for all games at the moment. But if you have to rebuild the image you can rebuild with the latest dashboard.Again if you dont know how to do it take it to a modder or try contact your seller.

as long as he has the original NAND and not trying to solder any thing i wouldn't imagine there is any way he could possibly "destroy it beyond repair" i mean he really is only playing with flashing and what not, which is kind of like burning a cd

but hay i could be wrong i have been before :p

Thanks. This cleared up the E71 error and allowed me to install the update.

Avatars are now working on my dash. I even was able to play two games that wouldn't run before applying the update (Mortal Kombat & WWE All Stars). Unfortunately, the save problem has continued even after the update. Started up Smackdown vs Raw again and received the d0000032 error, then tried GTA Episodes and was given an error when I reached a save point. I appreciate all of the help I've received to this point, and it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who has run into this problem, but it sucks that the update didn't resolve the issue.

You using external hard drive? What are you trying to save your games to?

I'm not sure where it's trying to save the game to. I'm loading the games off of a 1TB external hard drive (there are about 10 games on the hard drive). There is also 13.8GB of free space on the HDD, so space shouldn't be an issue on either storage media.

The only thing I've done to the 360 since it was JTAG'd was installing XEXmenu and now installing the avatar update.

Do you have a -real- microsoft item? maybe that causing your save problems. Try a USB stick formatted through the memory menu or try an actual microsoft hard drive.
