Well, I followed the steps and everything seem to work just fine. I got my "ORIG" file and maid my "x52a.bin file", put it on my USB flash drive and restarted. Reset the boot order to the USB flash drive aegean, turned on the 360 on an waited for it to boot. Well then it gave me this error:

"Hardware Initiate failed, Please check Device!!!
The Bios does not be installed. Press <g> to continue!"

If anybody knows how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated if you could help, thanks.

1. I have a "MS25"
2. I am trying to flash with "xtreme firmware 5.2"
3. I am trying to use "USB Flash Drive" for boot disk
4. I have a "VIA VT6421" type PCI card

Yes, I had checked the box. The process of this worked to copy the "ORIG" file. I don't understand why its not working for the flash.

check both your original and hacked firmware with keycheck if o'k
put the orig.bin file safe and hacked firmware

reformat and create your usb again with XBM once working copy over your x52a.bin

and at the dos prompt type

mtkflash w /m /sata x52a.bin

Ok, tried to reformat my USB flash drive. It didn't work )= my PC does not seem to be detecting my VIA VT6421 PCI card anymore... I tried using WinXP on virtual PC and no luck it didn't detect my VIA VT6421 PCI card. So I am not sure what the problem is exactly but I am starting to think I may just need to take the card out an put it into a WinXP PC an try that???

I have the same PCI card, and the trick with this card is to boot your PC with a SATA Hard Drive connected to the card. run mtkflash with the SATA hard drive connected. When your prompted to select which drive, uplugg the SATA Hard Drive and plug in your XBOX360 which is powered off. Select the drive and 10 seconds later, turn on the Xbox360 and the Xbox360 Drive will start flashing your firmware.

I still cant get it to work.

When i boot into dos and use the command i get 1. IDE Pri Sec but no option to use my card.

Even when trying the above options.

Should I be doing something in my bios?

I know when i got mine, it was kindve tricky to get working right, on my gateway i could not get it to work at all, but i used another computer and got it working, some suggestions are switching the card on different pci buses and trying that and also make sure your card shows up in the device manager under scsi or raid controllers

yeah im having the same trouble.
i have a via 6421a with an ms28, a dell dimension with intel sata chip set. i started using this computer i pluged and installed the via pci card all seemed working fine i restarted check device manage.
i made my mtkflash in xtm boot maker the new version at this point aplied both patches detected my o/1 numbers clicked choose my firmware and clicked make bootable.
i restarted unpluged my hard drive that is contect to the mother board via sata in the intel port and all my dvd devices.(just left the usb and pcis pluged). i typed my code xRead 123456 1234. it starts reading then says no hardware detected. i tried many ways having my drives pluged in and changing settings in the bios. still nothing just got the same messages i recreated the mskflash with downgrades of xtm i dnt think thats the problem. I read on here i may need m2kflash file in my usb stick so cant find them any where so nevea got to try but if ay 1 has them can u pls send them to me my emailis [email protected] thanks
a few days later
i turned on my pc and my dvd wont work i updated the drivers it says code 39 and its unable reinstall them correctly im not sure what happened maybe i accidently flash my dvd when trin to get it to wor, doubt it tho cos neva got passed cant detect hardware part.so i sent it back to the shop to be repaired. who no's?
i took my via 6421a out thought i wood give it ago in my sony vaio pcv-
old mahine but very fast still. and it has no other sata. installed the pci via6421a in the computer then created my boot usb restarted to load dos.
dos dosnt even load up it says checking pcis lists all my hardware as functioning skips a fews lines. just stops and says j_ and wont let my type just beeps as me. i will try using a floppy too boot today bu i think the drive maybe be broken iv havent used a floppy disk in a long time.
if any 1 could help with any of my probs or think they know where im going wrong. ive simply gotta get this done iv come to far now
Thanks in advance Hendrix

I was able to fix the same problem by updating the driver for the sata controler card. The latest driver is avialable from the VIA website. I was able to link there from a post in some where in the forum

i changed a few things and it worked first go.
*changed the sata cable
*changed the formatable drive.(think my vaio was 2 old to boot from usb explains y i was getting the j_ frozen in dos)
*changed the sata pci slot to the 4 which is the 1 nearest the middle of my mother board.

when i booted did not work it couldnt find the xbox drive when running the mtkflash commands. so i typed my code pressed 1 .pri and turned the xbox on immidetly no ten sec or 3 sec but as fast as i could it strated dumping straight away.
thanks 4 every 1 i bothered with this problem but all ur help and my persiverence paid off in the end.
a computer down(in for a repair) but other than that completly sucsessfull i would recommened doing ur home work b4 setting out to try and flash ur xbox. read every thing a lotta stupid mistakes can be avioded. every 1 who is still struggling to get it working, keep going ull get there.
Thanks again to any 1 who replyed Seabass, Text book guy who sent the post (1above) thanks man!
now just gotta figure out how to back these mofoin discs up

OK, I finally flashed my 360. The flash went "PERFECTLY" with no flaws what so ever. All I did was buy an HD for my computer for messin around with, put Windows XP on it an put it in my PC. I had taken my other HD out as I did not want to mess with it or have anything go rong with it due to its my Vista HD. So I guess if anyone is having the same problem just get an HD for play and put a fresh copy of windows on it and flash your 360 that way. Or if you currently have XP maybe your PC just needs a fresh copy to get the job done. Also I used XBM 3.6
