Problems booting Slax when my 360 drive is hooked SATA

I have a Dell Dimenson 4600 (girl friends pc), when i have the 360 drive hooked up to the pc Slax will not boot from my Primary IDE cd-rom but will when the 360 drive is not hooked to the sata. ive tryed plugging the 360 drive in while booting slax but still no go. anyone know what the deal is or know much about a Dell Bios i cant seem to find the problem. i thought about getting one of those connectivity kits but i'd like to do that as last resort

is ure chipset compatible with slax and also compatible with flashing the hitachi drives.
