OK I flashed my xbox using my network in my house. I choose to use flashbios 3.03 and everything seems to work fine, it flashs and then when it's done the xbox cuts off. when I go to turn it back on the flashbios screen comes back up as if I nothing happen. The only thing I can think of that might be a problem is that i have an unlocked hdd. Can anyone help me or give me some things to try.

I just installed an X3CE and am having the same problem, it is extremely frustrating and i would really appreciate a response. I got rid of my hdd and replaced it with a maxtor 120 gig pre formated by systemmods.com for my xbox. do i have to flash my bios on to the stock hard drive before i can on my newer one?? Please respond.

What Version xbox are you running it on?

Socdough - When the flashbios comes back on, which version is it? 0.1 or 0.3? Since both bios are now loaded from the factory, you might be booting from another bank. Also what bios are you trying to install? If you are installing the FB 3.0.3, then the screen you see is correct.

Jwestover - The bios is not harddrive related since it resides on a chip on the board, however, I would use the factory drive until everything was flashed and you have installed a dashboard. When that is done you can make a backup of the factory drive through FTP, install the new drive, and copy the data over.

If you get a bios like the x3 v1959 loaded, then you will be able to make sure the new drive is formated properly and then you might be able to lock it. My Maxtor 160 gig drive locked without any problems.

so your saying that i've flashed my bios correctly? if so then how do i play my games, and which banks do i turn on to run the bios directly from the chip ( you said bios was preloaded at factory)

I tried 3.03........... didn't work either. So i used the X3 1959 bios. Let your system boot then select the internet/network update selection. Let it run and it will default to IP 192.168.0.99(because it wont find the network or internet)................. once that is done connect your crossover cable to the XBox and PC. You can then load EI on your computer, once that is done type http://192.168.0.99 in the address box in IE. A screen will appear on your PC or laptop that gives you the option to flash your bios. Choose the 1959 bin file that you've downloaded and extracted from the .rar file. The bios will then flash. Once the xbox starts up again the 1959 bios will load. If it doesnt then hold down the white or B key and it should. Once that is done you can then set the ip address for it to FTP to you laptop/pc in the bios setup screen. You can then ftp accross your dashboard ensuring that it goes onto the C Drive and if the file name is Avalaunch.xbe you rename it to default.xbe

I hope this is an answer if your starting off. If you specifically require the 3.03 then this advise is no use (Sorry). If you're just starting like me and have half the hair left that you had a week ago then it should help to get you started

FlashBIOS is just that, a utility to flash your BIOS and nothing more. The tutorial and almost all of the X3 resellers tell you this on their site. Get the latest X3 BIOS (1959) and use FlashBIOS to flash it onto either of the 1MB combo banks 1-4 or 5-8. Don’t ask where to get it, as the sticky tells you.

I'm starting to think that this is a problem with the CE

NO... there's not! I received my CE and with the exception of resoldering the 5v wire... I plugged into my box and it worked flawlessly. The problem is that these people don't do any research before they attempt to do things and they expect everything to go their way, and then want to be spoon feed the info when they need it.

choose to use flashbios 3.03 and everything seems to work fine, it flashs and then when it's done the xbox cuts off. when I go to turn it back on the flashbios screen comes back up as if I nothing happen.
I guarantee you that this guys is flashing FlashBios with FlashBios! READ THE TUTORIAL!

... and I bet he is too! READ THE TUTORIAL!

Once you guys read the tut and go over everything and STILL have problems.. then come back and give us a little bit more info like...

* What Version?
* What are your switches set to?
* What version of Bios?
etc...etc.

xXLoganXx you must be a tool. you posted about a problem with you x3ce flash bios like a couple days ago and now your a guru. Ive installed 2 ce chips now and had problems with both with the bios flashing. But guess what? When i threw in my spare x3 non ce chip? it flashed flawlessly.

I never claimed to be a guru at anything. As a matter of fact, I just got an xbox for the first time on Christmas day. As I explained in another post, it is just frustrating for people who actually do come here for help and have to read through repeated posts about things that shouldn't even have to be asked. It is also clearly obvious that these two people were doing exactly what I said they were doing. I was pulling my hair out when trying to get my X3 to flash and I tried every suggestion and I am merely giving my input as to what problems look similiar to mine and how I got around certain things as well. And just for the record I never posted having a problem with a CE. I had a SE which didn't work and I plugged in a CE right into it, with the exception of changing the 5v wire and it worked fine. Check my sticky at the top of the forum. So I don't know what you're trying to say and if your first post is an insult, then I can see you're going to be alot of help here as well....

Yes, it sounds as if you did it correctly. However, as you might have gathered from other posts, you flashed over it with the same bios. The reason it doesn't look to have done anything is because it hasn't.... it is the same file. You need to flash over it with a different type of bios. I would reccomend the X3 bios version 1959. You cannot download it here, but you can find instructions over at xbox-scene.

Once you have the X3 bios loaded you will see how to use many features of the chip, and then your backup games should work.

why dont you just boot the mod and flash X3 1959 like you are instructed then you can stop making lame posts saying that there is a glitch with the CE when 1) The hardware logic hasnt changed at all and 2) tens of thousands are being used with no problems

better still give it to someone who can do it for you - should take them abouty 5 minutes if they follow the easy instructions

yes but it registers my rom as read only no matter what the flash protection is on the chip itself when the switch is unplugged. when it is enabled it doesnt flash at the end. but when it is disabled it pretends to flash and does nothing.

ok thank you for the help.

There’s nothing wrong with the CE. If you recall my topic that I linked you to I had some flashing problems after I installed mine. But it turned out to be a bad corrupted BIOS that I downloaded. I downloaded it again and BAM it worked.

You might have a faulty flash protect switch on the chip itself, as rare as it may happen. Send it back and get a new one. It should be simple as pie as long as you purchased from one of the official resellers.
