Problems with Falcon and CR4 XL

Update

I was about to RGH2 my console, but then decided to replace the grounded shielded CPU RST wire with a 'regular' bifilar wire (2 wires - 1 wire for GND and 1 for RST, picture is attached) to see if it changes anything. To my surprise, the problem went away and the console successfully booted 50 times out of 50. Interestingly enough, connecting the same wire to the bottom CPU RST point results in the console not being able to boot 1-2 times out of 20 (which is the same problem that I was having before).

So, after having spent countless hours trying various dips, switches, and wire combinations, the only solution that worked for me was to connect a thin, non-shielded, bifilar wire to the top CPU RST point. I have no idea why this works, but I am glad that the console finally behaves as it should.

Thank you everyone for your help. The thread can be closed now.

So it's acting as a shield. A poor shield since it insulated but still a shield. Did you try it without it grounded? I wonder how much of a difference it really makes.

Yes, that's how I wanted it to act. I am not sure why the much better wire (grounded shielded one) failed to work, but at least the console is working properly now.

Once I completely removed the black wire, the console started having issues booting up again. I did not try only disconnecting the black wire from the ground and leaving it to hang there. The console is completely assembled now, so I won't be able to try that, sorry.
