I just tried flashing my sammy drive and it gives me an error.

I have the samsung-toshiba ms28, im using, well trying to use the new iXTREME1.2b. I got everything on my flash drive and it runs fine.

I turn on comp and boot from USB stick.
When in DOS I turn on 360.
I type in iDump 1234567 12345 and my drive does appear.
But when I choose my drive, it does nothing, I hit 3, which is the key for mine and it says what port its on, but doesnt back up my firmware. It just sits there unless I hit Esc.

Now, I've checked my computer, which is a Gateway GM5088, and there is a VIA chip in it, so im trying to figure out what the problem is and I really dont have a clue :/.

you are turning the xbox off befor you select the 3 hey? (bad flash method / 10 second trick) then turn it back on after counting to 10? are you using 1234567 12345 as an example on the forum and your xbox's real serial number in dos?

StKittyHawk,

Try your process in a different order.

1. Turn on PC and 360 at the same time.
2. Insert SATA cable into 360 Drive when dos screen is presented.
3. Type in iDump 1234567 12345 and hit return
4. Turn of 360
5. Select port to read from. In your case below select port 3
6. Count to 10 and turn the xbox 360 back on. Drive will begin to dump firmware.

Once hacked.bin has been created reboot PC and 360 and repeat the above procedure but replace idump with iflash.

Yes, am using real serial number.

tried all that, the 10 second wait many times.
screen just stays at...

Choose one drive:3
Port: 9f0, Master/Slave: a0

just sits there for 10 minutes doing nothing, only changes when I hit escape, this is what it says.

Status= 00, Should be 70
ERR: User break 1 File(s) copied

wondering if the error is my chipset not being VIA. There is a VIA chip on my mobo - the Logo is hard to miss - but it isnt close to my sata ports, makes a difference?
hoping thats not it though...

StKittyHawk,

VIA make chips for many different purposes so it make not bge the chipset for the SATA controller.

When you use iPrep to make the bootable USB drive what is your SATA controller chipset identified as? When I use iPrep it says my card is a VIA VT6421 RAID controller when I list the SCSI Based Controllers.

Do a bit of Googling to see hwat SATA controllers your Mobo has installed.

first time in iPrep that it was unknown SATA device, now that I updated drivers it appears to be nVidia chipset, not VIA, nutz.
Problem solved, thanks english and ghost.
