Problems with Xecuter 2.6 CE Mod Chip & Xapter (powers on/off/off/on/blank screen)
Hi all..
I purchased an Xecuter 2.6 CE Mod Chip & Xapter from www.kanection.co.uk.
I installed the Xapter into both of my two 1.3 Xboxs to test if it works or if its me. I have followed both the tutorial on the kanection website and the one on the Team Xecuter side but I cannot get the console to work with the chip.
It powers on with a blue light, powers off, powers, powers off, powers on and then I get a blank screen.
When I installed the Xaptor there is a about a 1 millimeter gap on the end were there is no screw, I have pushed down on the chip and tightend it but still this gap remains. The D0 pin is in the correct hole as per my board.
I noticed that the screw that was supplied with the chip and the Xpator will not tightend upand just turn and turn. I used another screw but the 1 millimeter gap is still there
Kanection did supply a pinheader but it doesn't look right for my board to me.
It looks like this (but with pin 6 still inplace):
Where as the Xaptor looks like this:
But the one on the Team Xecuter site looks like this.
As you can see the Xaptor and the pinheader look nearly the same but the one from kanection is much different.
As I can't get the Xaptor working I'm gonna try soldering it using the pinheader, but before I do so which pinhead should I be using?
One other thing I should mention. the Xbox that I want to use this in I think may have been softmodded and then someone did something wrong as I keep getting Error 16 when I fire it up without the mod chip. I was lead to believe that by installing a modchip I could fix this problem and also upgrade to a bigger hard drive. Is this true or have a been lead down the garden path and tricked into buying something that will not fix my problem.
thanks
