I installed the xecuter 2.6 modchip on my 1.1 last night but when i turn the xbox on it just FRAGS 3x then keeps flashing red and green... i`ve got no LEDS lit up on my external switch either is that anything to worry about?

When i flick the switch to disable the chip my xbox boots up as normal.

Is this just a case of rechecking all the wireing and hope this resolves the issue?

I`ve been looking around all over the net reading up and thats what people have been saying but i thought i`d ask myself for extra reassurance.

Also if i get past this obstacle what evo bios would i need to get? my chip has 1mb flash or something so would i need 256 or 512?

thank you

First off, FRAG means Flash Red And Green.

Since it works with the chip off it is a problem with your install. Did you do a wire install? The fact that you get no leds on the switch makes me think your soldering is bad. Do you get a blue LED on the chip?

Download x2 5035 from Xbins, and flash with that. It is already 512k. See my sig for an xbins tutorial, and read the flashbios tip.

You don't need to worry about checking the connection of your D0 point, this is already good as otherwise you wouldn't get a FRAG. Go over the other points and make sure connections are solid, especially the 5v pin if you're not getting any LEDs on the chip/switch. (#6)

Check that the plugs on your switches are completely seated. One of the wires towards the middle of the plug carries 5v, if your plugs are seated at the edges but bowed in the middle this critical circuit may not be complete.

Thanks for the replies... my dads going through the points and connections now making sure everythings how it should be.

Yes we done a wired install.

Thanks for the guide on xbins i now have the x2 5035 bios.

Do i just follow the guide and burn it in nero? i`ve noticed it says dummy.bin but i dont have that file does that mean i have to make a dummy file over 100megs and slam that in as well? i downloaded a dummy file maker off this site just now so im guessing i do have to do that.

The FlashBIOS guide that is linked in Fantmx's sig (oh yeah, in my sig too!) has all the info you'll need on burning, including how to build the dummy file.

Alternately, you can flash via HTTP if your Xbox is on a network with your PC. This is the better way to go since Xbox drives can be picky regarding what media and burn methods they will read. Guide to this method of flashing is also in the FlashBIOS link.

Ok the chip is fine and we flashed the bios it worked perfectly, it loads up the xbox dashboard and it says xecuter rox my box on the bottom... i`ve tried to put my farcry backup in to run and it says my xbox cant recognize the disc and so on what do i have to do from here?

Do i have to flash bank 2 with something?

Probably either doesn't like the ISO format, burn method or media. You may need to experiment to find what will work with your box. If you copy from the original to your hard drive does it run fine from there?

Yeah thats possible i borrowed a friends copy and its just on a cheap unbranded disc.

My DVD in the xbox is the philips one.

I`ve tried different settings on my external switch to see if it would make it load but had no joy.

Dont you need a different dashboard though to run backups on disc and the hard drive though? because i swear i read that somewhere.

Thanks a lot for your help with this i appreciate it... i will get there in the end :D

I would of just sent it off to have it done for me if i could turn back time now but you know what its like you just walk into things sometimes and not always realise how much you got to do.

Just booted a original game then switched it off and put the far cry back up in and it worked it loaded the main screen then it froze with the dirty disc message again.....

obviously the games there its just the media it doesn`t like i think.

How would i get the game on the hard drive then?

DVD2Xbox will allow you to rip the game from the original disc and put it on the hard drive.

IIRC DVD2Xbox also has a built in games manager. Through this menu you can see details on the size of each game, the ability to delete the entire game, etc. This menu also can act as a launch area as well.

Your box pretty much needs *a* dashboard to run games from the HDD, but as far as I know all dashboards support it.

I`ve got that far cry backup to run further now but as soon as you start the game the video works perfectly but the game sound screechs all the way through what the hell is going on there.

My lights on the external switch are all green apart from the HD one keeps flashing blue like crazy... also the light inside the xbox is blue.

I got the auto installer deluxe 3 to get the programmes i want and burned it through nero and the xbox wont read the disc no matter how hard i try....

Someone is mocking me i swear.

So the original works but the backup does not? If so, just use the original and rip it to the hard drive using DVD2Xbox. Chances are this is just a problem with the media you used to backup the game, but if you have the original, which you should, you could just rip from there.

A couple of things to add to Fantmx post.
1. I'm not sure if you've successfully installed a new dash on your xbox yet since I do not see any comments from you on this. The message "Xecuter rox my xbox" at the bottom of the screen I think is related to the fact that you've successfully flash a hacked BIOS onto your chip but it doesn't mean that you've installed a dash that the chip can read to boot to.
2. Fantmx is right about DVD2Xbox app. You need to install this and copied your original games to your HDD. Of course, you won't be able to to do xLive using games on your HDD.
3. Since you're going to install DVD2Xbox, why not try to find AutoInstaller Deluxe v2 or v3 downloaded to your PC, burn the image to a DVD-R, boot it in your xbox and have all the xbox apps under the sun to be installed automatically for you?
4. If you have time, do some readings on burning xbox disc because they're not your usual PC burning stuff. Things such as:
A. You can download games on the Internet onto your PC (as an image) but you cannot FTP directly to your xbox. Instead, you'll have to burn to a DVD and then use DVD2Xbox to rip to your HDD. If ripping to HDD is not what you wanted then I think you can simply scroll through options on your dashboard to play the copied games.
