my question is this... i have an old 2.3b pro programer, would it work on my buddy's new X-Ecuter 2.6 CE?

This may help. I didn't read it that closely. If not, do a search for "2.3 programmer 2.6". That turned up a lot of results.

i have searched before, but cant find anything for the 2.3b pro programmer, there's stuff for a different programmer though ?2.x?, but not the one i have.....
mine doesn't have an external power thing like this one

Yes you can, I've managed to flash a mates 2.6 on my programmer, follow this tutorial on the Xecuter site: http://www.teamxecuter.com/x2prog/?CMSSESSID=447fba1b4cdfb213bead44b8f1857fdd
There are 4 extra holes on the 2.6's pin header adaptor just line up the chip with the extra holes to right (top) as to the first picture on the tutorial. The external power is not needed thats only for connecting to the xbox once installed new version of the chip has a red 5v wire.

So this will work with a 2.6CE? I can use an older programmer with a newer chip (at least the 2.6) right?
