hey guys,
I have modded a bunch of <1.6 xboxes, but this was the first 1.6a xbox that I have modded. The MOD went fine, the the bios flash went weird.

First, using http, I flashed BANK1 with the xecuter multi version bios and kept bank 2 as the flashbios as it was already preloaded onto there. (rev 6.05.2002). This loaded perfectly fine with the original harddrive, but when I replaced the HD with a 120 gb (that was previously formatted with an xbox, i was jus swapping it in), the screen would get stuck on X2 config live loading ... and then the light would flash red/green.

I looked up some information and heard that bank2 is better for xbox 1.6, which doesn't make sense, but so I tried to do a 1 mB flash with flashbios on bank1 and xecuter multiversion on bank2, but then I believe it was a messed up flash as I get the screen stuck on the same X2 config live and then bank 1 doesn't load anything (the screen is blank).

So thennn, I decided I should try the m8plus bios from evox. I have a programmer and the chip detects fine on my computer. However, when I try flashing or try reading the chip, I get a SYNC error (0x0f) saying that it is usually caused by a bad printer cable. I am connecting the programmer directly to the computer (there is no cable) so I don't see this as an issue. Is a cable necessary? Anyone have any thoughts? Is the chip fried?

any thoughts on the problem with the HD would be great too. I defintely want to try the m8 bios.

thanks!

What version of X2 CL did you put on there? It looks to the hard drive for a config file. Was this drive locked in the other Xbox? What happens if you put the original drive back in?

Further to what Fantmx asked, what was on the new HDD? Did you have MS Dashboard files for instance? Did you try another jumper setting? Did you try using a boot disk with it?
