If you solder the DemoN first, you can use it to dump the NAND. Write this to the DemoN NAND and make sure you can boot from it (so you prove quite a number of operations before you start). Once you're happy that the DemoN is working, I'd install the Coolrunner.

Yeah - the NAND you dump from your console (i.e your original) can be written to the NAND on the DemoN. Enable the DemoN NAND (so the blue light is on) and boot the console. If this all works then you know the following is ok:

Reading from Xbox 360 NAND
Writing to DemoN NAND.
Booting from DemoN NAND.

more good advice from martin there, once thats all checked out you can install the cr, and flash it through demon, then make your ecc and flash it to the demon, and get you cpu key.

This process (first DemoN, then CR) is still true for the 16202 dashboard/firmware with the new encoding?
As long as you have your cpu key, nothings changed.. If you dont have it, youll need a dgx to grab the key, and then disconnect the dgx, and then install the demon.

I have the same setup, this is what I did.

-Installed QSB and read original nand(just to be safe)
-Installed DemoN read nand again and then write the original nand to DemoN, boot the console from DemoN nand - if it boots ok, then the installation is good.
-flashed coolrunner, in my case Rev C, from j-runner(check the DemoN box)
-flashed DemoN with DGX image
-Install DGX
- Boot console and get key
-Remove DGX
-Install Coolrunner
-Create glitch image and write it to DemoN nand.
-Boot xbox from DemoN.
