my guess as we aint gonna see a quality PS2 emulator anytime soon (if at all) cause im sure emulating the ps2 on the xbox might not even be possible (atleast not possible at a decent frame rate)

so basically i would plain not even expect a quality ps2 emulator ever on the xbox as i would be pretty impressed if someone could make one with good frame rate.

Thats exactly what the problem would be, the Frame-Rate. If you tryed playing a Ps2 Game on an XBOX, it would look like a slideshow throughout the whole game. The XBOX just doesnt proccess that well and I really dont see a PS2 emulator coming that will be considered successful.

Wow... this question comes up very, very, very often. Not to sound mean, but if you would have simply typed PS2 Emulator into the search feature, you would have found these:

http://www.teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27075&highlight=ps2+emulator
http://www.teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25421&highlight=ps2+emulator
http://www.teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24049&highlight=ps2+emulator

This is addressed, it seems, once a month. So, here is the summary of all the answers you will get:

1) It is impossible.
2) The hardware between the two are just so different.
3) The PS2 uses a low clock speed, yet very effiencent powerful processor and offloads much of it's computing to specialized chips. The XBox uses dumb, old technology in comparison. Sorry to burst all your bubbles, XBox fan boys, but Sony was plain more innovative then Microsoft... :) Come to think of it, most companies are.
4) Even the newest, most powerful hardware out there cannot emulate the PS2. I once saw a screen shot of a PS2 emulator running on the newest and latest fire-breathing machine, but even the CPU was pegged at 98% and the emulator was only running at 2 frames per second. I believe you'll find the picture in one of those links.
5) If the newest machines can't do it, the XBox doesn't stand a chance. Sorry. :)

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it cannot be done. Just buy one: they're just as much or even cheaper then the XBox. That's my advice.

Man I've had a PS2 emulator (sort-of) for my Xbox for a long time!!!

All you need is a PS2... some duct tape... an XBox... and your off to the races!!

I'm telling you Duct Tape can fix anything...

Hell, I got my microwave modded to a Celicovision in the den, I used wood glue, now that's a mod!

Try cooking a hotpocket on your xbox!! Yeah that's right... I rock! :D

the xbox is more powerfull then the ps2 is... thats obvious... sure u might have a point about it's efficientcy being better than the xbox... but when is all said and done the xbox clearly has more power overall... and it shows in games... i.e. visuals and frame rate in general are noticeably better ;)

p.s. i know this has nothing to do with the question but i just has to say this ;)

yup i completely agree with that.

Yawn. It must be that time of month again ... we are all suffering from PMS (PS2 Mulators Suck).

You want to run PS2 games? Get a damn PS2.
You think its easy to write emulators? Get a degree in CompSci ... you can't do it with Javascript and flash animations.

Oops ... another kitten down.

lol tokenUser man ur like my hero now. that was the greatest. i totally agree with you, if ppl want to play ps2 games buy a damn ps2. it's not that hard to find one and they not that expensive. besides it's only been mentioned like 100 times that a ps2 emu isn't possible because of how different the systems are. As for ppl who say the xbox is more powerful it should work? look how horrible some n64 games play....

You said it. I still would like to see a general emulation faq sticky or at least a 7 day waiting period before noobs can post in the hopes that they might look through the forums for what they want to know.

First time a question is asked, it's out of ignorance. That's fine.

Second time a question is asked, it's for reassurance. Alrighty then.

Third time a question is asked, it's nagging.

This applies to "what's for dinner", "are we there yet", "were you just now flirting with that other woman" and "where's my xbox ps2 emulator".

And yeah, even though the xbox has more raw power than the ps2, I still contend it's a fairly crudely implemented beast. The cube has almost as much power (don't go by the MHZ, and keep in mind that nintendo released poly counts WITH EFFECTS IMPLEMENTED ON THOSE POLYS rather than the xbox's bare poly counts) in a much smaller form factor that runs cooler and doesn't sound like a tornado whirring in someone's living room. If I lived in a trailer park in Oklahoma I'd probably freeze in terror every time I turned the damn thing on.

Of course, I would have ended my own life long before it got to that.
