A file has just been leaked called mustupdate. You can download this file from this link. http://files.psphacker.com/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,0,0,0,16,197 there is a brief description for this file that goes like this. Mustupdate is a small program that simulates the lauch of a program demanding for the upgrade of firmware. (It is said this works on v1.5 as well as v1.0) Since this works on v1.0 it means Sony has been thinking about this for a long time. I can confirm that this does infact run on a 1.5 psp. I am no programer by all means but i thought u guys and team executer could definetly use this file in a psp homebrew breakthough of some sort. I hope this i file is of some help to you guys.

Sorry to bust your bubble guys, but this guy has no idea what he's talking about. The only thing he did was change the required version number in the header. Not sure what he wants to accomplish with this, but...

This is going to work trust me :p Even though i dont know enough to try this i have faith in everyone else that is. This right here is a update from psphacker.com so you can trust it if u want. I actually think this artcle is legit.

"Magnus the Shadow sent us a version of the Must Update file that he worked on.

HACKEDEBOOT.PBP is a version that proves the buffer overload method.

1.0EBOOT.PBP is a version that can be run an any PSP.

Just put this on your PSP (PSP ver 1.0/1.5, unsure of 1.51)
under "PSP\GAME\HACK" and rename the .pbp as eboot.

Go to GAME on the PSP Menu and then go down to MEMORY STICK
Execute the file, you will receive the error message of it being corrupted. Ignore that by pressing "O" and then
press "X" again it will bring up the "you must update the ver." window.

Don't worry this program in no way changes your PSP

He had this to say: The .sfo file (PARAM FILE) in the .pbp can be altered to become a loader, but this can only be done through ELF scripting (Which I can't exactly do). Once an ELF loader is written and replaces the You need to update window section of text i believe a Homebrew app can be run. most likely candidate to is the app Turbo Grafx 16, which will allow us launch other homebrew apps from the PSP!

I hope that more people can find this file and try it out. Can u imagin if team executer had this program. I bet if they did they could get hombrew in less than 2 weeks.

Any one from these forums know anything about elf scripting at all? I would kinda like to know a little about it even though im not good at programing. I would just like to see someone accomplish something with these program because it seems legit in all. I kinda want to learn about elf scripting even though im a total newb at programing so i can try to learn about it. Its prolly hard and advanced with my luck lmao.

these things that magnus the shadow keeps posting (snes1.5 and mustupdate) are almost completely useless to cracking 1.5

the posts on psp hacker are very misleading and are ridiculously overhyped, the mustupdate one doesnt even make very much sense technically, i dont think he even knows what a buffer overflow exploit is.

i wouldnt get too excited

I thought that was when you force a large amount of routing updates to be sent to a Cisco router and it fills the buffer and forces it to reboot.... but what do I know:rolleyes:
